Classic IDY cabin built in the late Forties. River rock fireplace keeps thing cozy during the chilly months. Relax, read, birdwatch or dine on the spacious wrap around deck overlooking the large back yard. Enjoy the fragrant blossoms of the gigantic lilac bush and young fruit trees when in bloom. Furnished with vintage local furniture and remodeled bath. Cook up a storm in the compact but fully stocked kitchen. Grill on the propane bbq outside or inside in the fireplace on the tuscan grill. (Charcoal bbq not allowed outside due to fire risk.) All access! The cabin is yours to enjoy and I will be available to answer your questions either in person or by phone, text or email. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet and scenic views can be found in a stroll right from the front door of the the cabin; it's a pleasant 25 minute walk to Inspiration Point. It is a three minute drive to the heart of Idyllwild and a three minute walk to yoga practice in the yurt! You will find fantastic hiking and rock climbing nearby--serious climbers discovered Tahquitz Rock (Lily Rock) in the 1930's and by the 1950s, members of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club developed the Yosemite Decimal System of grading routes at Tahquitz. There are some 500 named routes in the local peaks. And the Pacific Crest Trail passes through Idyllwild! Idyllwild is a charming alpine village set in the mountains above Palm Springs and is an extremely walkable town. You will notice that there is not one stop light or chain store in town! No streetlights either as the town is serious about limiting light pollution! Stop in at the Ranger station in town for trail maps and other useful information for your stay. Idyllwild being in the mountains gets weather! So if you are coming up in the winter months, know that we can get snow! Caltrans does a great job in keeping the 243 plowed, but you will often be required to have chains to come up the hill! The road to the cabin is kept very well cleared of snow, but you may need to shovel away the berm that will form in front of the driveway in order to get out! If dangerously high winds are forecast, Socal Edison may proactively suspend power in order to prevent the chance of wildfires. While this is a very infrequent occurrence, it's always a good idea to pack some extra back-up battery chargers for your phone or other electronic devices just in case!
