Pond Side R & R

Our home is a close drive from Hudson, Kinderhook or Chatham, NY and a ten minute walk to the Hudson River and a boat launch. Enjoy miles of country roads for walking and biking and our nine acres through meadows and woods on mowed paths. Guests have access to an Adirondack style cottage overlooking a pond. Close to numerous restaurants, galleries, antique shops and cultural activities. This property is good for couples, a group of friends and families. This private (PET FREE) guest house includes three bedrooms with private baths on the second floor, with a living room, dining room, full kitchen and half bath with washer/dryer on the first floor. The living room has a gas fired wood stove. The house is surrounded by spacious lawns, meadows and woodlands with mowed paths. A spring fed pond and charming "pond house" with deck for outdoor fires and relaxing is located just behind the house and is available for guest use. You will have use of the entire guest house, property and "pond house" during your stay. Kitchen will be supplied with coffee, tea and some breakfast items for your convenience. Kitchen is also fully stocked with dishes, cooking utensils and other needs. All rooms have bath towels and tissue. Owners live in a separate house on the property and may be available to greet you upon your arrival. The guest house has printed information for area restaurants, shops and activities, but owners would be happy to provide additional tips and insights to the surrounding area. We have two cats that live in the main house and venture the property, but are not permitted in the guest house. The house, built in the late 1800's, is a short walk to the Hudson River. At the river, a park has a boat launch for kayaks and canoes. The property is close to several dairy and organic farms. The town's quiet nature is ideal for walking or biking the surrounding roads with a park for younger children a short walk down the road. We are approximately 20 minutes to Hudson and Chatham and 5 minutes to Kinderhook. As of 2020, we are 3 miles access to the 750 mile Empire State Bike and Hiking Trail. The Berkshires, Catskill (including several ski locations) and Saratoga, NY are all within an hours drive. There is ample parking on-site throughout the gravel drive. The pond house has a working wood fireplace for your use. The deck is complete with teak and wicker furniture and an outdoor dining set. A gas grill is available and is located either by kitchen door or on the dock. The pond, with its many frogs, wood toads, goldfish and koi can be enjoyed by our guests, but we do not allow swimming or fishing in the pond or ice skating in the winter.
