Two double occupancy rooms in a charming, 100- year-old cottage. 5 min walk to/from Amtrak/bus, 20 min from Lake Champlain and mountains for skiing, hiking, etc. 5 min walk to village cafés. This room has a queen size bed, rocking chair and antique oak library table/desk. You can book my other double-occupancy room here: www.airbnb.com/rooms/ (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) I usually prepare a substantial breakfast for my guests, which includes dark-roast, fresh-ground coffee and/or a variety of teas, fresh fruit, breakfast meat such as Vermont maple bacon or sausage, a savory dish, such as a crepe with fiddle-heads or vegetables and herbs from my garden and Vermont cheddar, and a sweet dish such as rhubarb crisp with chevre. Fast wifi, 2 TV's, deck dining, walk to/from Amtrak and frequent, convenient bus, kitchen and laundry available upon request, shady front porch rockers and glider, deck and big perennial and vegetable gardens in the back, free, off-street parking. When here, I am often in my garden or study. However, I am always available for guests who like to chat or need any help or info on local areas of interest. Generally, I try to give guests ample personal space but I have greatly enjoyed getting to know my guests and conversing at their convenience. My neighborhood is generally quiet and eclectic -- every house on my street is distinct. I personally enjoy walking in the village, enjoying the gardens and the many lovely, old homes. AmtraK, also a key public transportation hub (bus) is a 5 minute walk to and from my house. Although I have not taken the train from Amtrak, my two grown sons have and prefer it to driving. I frequently use and always enjoy the bus system. It is punctual, clean, and riders are respectful and friendly. Also, every bus has an easy bike rack for those who want to extent their trip on bike, and they are also all wheelchair accessible. Very cheap: $1.25 per fare (have the correct change!) and you should ask for a free pass for transfers. My off-street parking can accommodate 4 cars not counting mine, which is in the garage because I rarely use it. Bike rentals are available nearby and if you're desperate, you might be able to borrow mine... Amtrak goes by twice a day, at 9:30 AM and at 8:30 PM. There are very occasional freight trains that usually go unnoticed by my guests.
