Shallow Shore Cottage

Our comfortable and cosy cottage sits on beautiful Lake Couchiching. The water is shallow way out into the lake so offers a refreshing experience for those who just like to walk in the water as well as those who love to swim and play in the lake. Build a sandcastle on our sandy beach! In the winter the frozen lake offers a great place for ice fishing, skating (when the ice is smooth) cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. (Please read "Neighbourhood Description" below). Our cottage looks out over Lake Couchiching where you can relax in the sunroom or sit back on the living room sofa and enjoy the view. There is a woodstove in the corner of the living room for those cooler evenings. You will enjoy the cottage and the property, especially our sandy beach. The barn/garage is not included in the rental and may be accessed by us for our equipment during your stay though is at the very back of the property and will cause minimal to no disruption to your stay if accessed. If I am not available personally then one of my other family members/friends will be available to help. We are part of a smaller community with a mixture of primarily homes and some cottages. Our neighbours are friendly and helpful. There is a new subdivision in the process of being developed one road to the east of the cottage so when work resumes at the site (at a stand still as of writing this August 26, 2021, after felling a forest of trees :(), there will be construction noise during the day. It will take a number of years before this project is complete. We do not have a timeline for when the next phase of this development will begin but I will update here as I learn more. Our immediate next-door neighbours to the west are planning to level their cottage and build their forever home in its place starting sometime in the Spring 2022 depending on availability of resources. Once it begins, this will directly impact the noise level at the cottage. I will update the status of this as I learn more. There is no public transportation available at the cottage. Please note: Our immediate next door neighbour is planning to tear down his cottage and build a permanent home in its place. He hopes to begin in the Spring 2022 (he was hoping to be finished by then but Covid has delayed everything). This will depend on many things falling in to place so there is no definite timeframe (I'm hoping that it won't start til Fall 2022!). I will update this space as I learn more.
