This well-built, 1947 brick home has all the modern amenities you'll need and is just off the beaten path. This home was originally built as a mill house for Habersham Mills. Mr. & Mrs. Masters lived here for sixty years. Green Shutters specializes in long term stays with a washer and dryer. Inside: The house has two separate private bedrooms. Both bedrooms have one queen size bed. The living room has a queen size pull out sleeper sofa. Bathroom has shower and tub with a hand held attachment, stacked washer/dryer. The kitchen is fully-equipped with an electric stove, coffee maker, fridge, and there's even a little Weber grill in the garage. Have your dinners in the dining room, or relax outside where there's a covered porch area with a nice view of the mountains. Seating and dinnerware for up to 6. There is a fire pit for winter enjoyment. Green Shutters is adjacent to the owner's main home but out of sight. We are a 'dog friendly' property. See rules and policies for details concerning Fido(s). You have the entire house to yourself with a large front yard and, plenty of on-site parking. The carport now enclosed with shutters is set up with large rustic table and benches that seat 8. I also rent to Hip Campers and I want to insure their privacy as well as yours. The Hip Campers will be parking behind the cottage and or in an adjacent field. This is mostly on Fridays and Saturdays. I like to to greet you when you arrive, but due to Covid I will not. My availability might be variable during your stay. I am happy to do this from a social distance. I'm always reachable by phone!I I live behind the cottage but out of sight. In the late 1800's, Demorest, Clarkesville and Cornelia were all resort towns for people to escape to the cooler mountains for the summer months. The main industry in the 20th century was textile mills. Demorest still has a small town feel with rural surroundings. Downtown Clarkesville is a real treat with good dining options and shopping and a coffee shop, 2 miles. Helen, GA a big tourist destination is about 20 minutes away. Ingles is close by for your grocery needs with a Starbucks for a fix also three locally owned coffee shops; Yonha Coffee- Demorest, Java Jive - Clarkesville and Temperance House- Demorest. We're tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta just an hour 15 mins north, so bring your car. Motorcycles are a fun way to see the mountains, with lots of hills if you like cycling. There's a lot to see and do within a 30 minute drive: Piedmont College is 2 miles away, Helen's Oktoberfest is only 20 minutes away, come see the leaves or explore the many hiking possibilities. Clayton, Cornelia, Cleveland etc are an easy drive.
