A hidden gem! Get away and stay at the historic pioneer- era Clark Ranch established in 1885. Our guest house sits above our winery tasting room and has its own private entrance and driveway. It's clean, cozy, and self-contained . Make it a weekend 'getaway' stay and sample fine wines from ours and other nearby wineries. 30 minutes from downtown San Diego and 15 minutes from Mexico at Tecate. w Full kitchen with essentials for cooking. Birdwatchers paradise! Although there are food/dining options within minutes from here, you may wish to prepare meals here and bring the necessary ingredients with you. The Guest House features private parking above the tasting room. A very clean space with new 'sleep-cool' memory foam queen bed & fine 100% cotton sheets. RURAL, yet only 30 minutes to downtown San Diego and 35 to the airport. Outdoor living areas include the balcony overlooking Dulzura Creek, and a lovely front patio area by entrance. A BBQ is available for outdoor grilling. Stroll in the vineyard and take in the the amazing views from the elevated deck while enjoying a glass of our estate wine. Or just wander the property and enjoy the natural surroundings and authentic Old-West ambience. Meet Everett, our resident greeter, who's mother was born in the adjacent ranch house ca.1895, and is quite the expert on the history of the area. Full access to guesthouse, outdoor living areas, vineyard, garden, and park like grounds. You'll also be able access some terrific hiking and mountain biking opportunities as the ranch property abuts BLM land, and is open to the public for many recreational uses. We live in the "Big House" adjacent the the guest house. We're available as needed, but will not intrude on your privacy. Happy to give you a tour and show you how to pick edibles from the garden. We do have a dog, he acts as a doorbell, barks to let us know when someone is on the property, but is quite sweet, as well as a cat. They do not inhabit the guest house but may say hi. Please don't invite them in! Please let us know if you will be using the sofa bed. We will be happy to fold it out and make it up for you. Dulzura is a small unincorporated area of south east San Diego, with easy access to downtown, 30 minutes away. Locally, street taco's and mexican fare at the Dulzura Mini Mart are available Fri/Sat/Sun. Weekend breakfast, weekday lunch and dinner, fish and chips, hush-puppies, BBQ, and sandwiches are available at the historic Barrett Cafe (closed Mon). A number of good restaurants are located in Jamul, 15 minutes away, and groceries are 20 minutes away. See our guestbook for local recommendations. San Diego Transit is ~300 yards away if traveling by public transit. Otherwise a vehicle is necessary. As close to San Diego as we are, we are still quite rural. It can be very quiet, but we are also close to Highway 94, which has a fair amount of traffic. The bedroom of the guest house is on the backside, so is insulated from the traffic noise. Also, our tasting room is open to the public on weekends, and can be busy. Our winery visitors have access to our picnic areas and vineyard observation deck, so on weekends you may encounter a few friendly wine lovers enjoying the ranch ambience as well.
