The Heard House

The Heard House, in the heart of downtown Murphys, is a sweet, single-level cottage completely rebuilt in 2008 with all the charm and character of a bygone era, thoughtfully updated with today's comforts and conveniences. Easy walking distance to everything downtown, including the Murphys Hotel, shops and restaurants, two dozen wine tasting rooms, museum, community park and river. Located on a sunny and fenced 1/3 acre parcel in a residential neighborhood just one block off Main Street, the cottage is nicely set back and hidden from the street so you have all the privacy you crave, without the traffic and noise issues of downtown. The open and airy living room has vaulted ceilings and a toasty gas fireplace. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and entertaining, with coffee beans, half and half, teas and spices, a vintage gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, and breakfast bar seating for four. We also have a gas grill on the deck. The bedroom has both closet and dresser space, a comfy queen-sized bed, with cotton bedding in the summer, and flannel in the winter, fluffy pillows, down comforter with duvet cover. The bathroom has vaulted ceilings, a clawfoot tub/shower combo, plush towels, hair dryer, and hotel toiletries. Split unit Heating/AC, ceiling fans and gas fireplace for your comfort. Private deck with bench seating and a 6-person table is the perfect spot for morning coffee or relaxing under the starlit sky. Also an attached deck with a 6-person umbrella-shaded table, outdoor shower, and a horseshoe pit you’re welcome to use. Relax and enjoy watching the squirrels, birds, turkeys and occasional deer that frequent a large, open area behind our property, or grab a night time beverage and take in the starry sky.
