Sleep in a One-of-a-kind Historic Log Cabin (c 1660) cited by Chadd Ford Township as the 6th oldest building in PA! Your suite includes a c. 1735 den with wood-burning fireplace. Located within a national floral designer's modern home & garden, early area maps & artwork that inspired an artist in the Permanent Collection of the Brandywine River Museum are in the shared areas. This suite is one of 4 bedrooms in the house rented exclusively through AirBnb. Vaccinated guests only. Once you type in the code that unlocks the front door, you enter a space where there's something interesting to look at everywhere you turn your head. It started as a Trading Post for Beaver Pelts around 1660 (which is now your bedroom!) The original exterior log building is now interior walls! It's pretty neat! The living room comes with a high ceiling, a beautiful gold chandelier and a gas fireplace. Great place to curl up with a drink or book There's art pieces in the home that the owner, Francie Chalfant, has created herself as well as those collected by her Great-Grandfather, Jefferson David Chalfant whose work is in the permanent collections you can see at the Brandywine River Museum and Delaware Art Museum (and Metropolitan) In your bedroom, there is a private bathroom and closet that is ONLY accessible through your room. It comes complete with a walk-in shower, washer and dryer. The custom hardware includes a period lock on your door. A door on the Den connects with the Kitchen --which makes it easy for you to curl up and dine privately in front of the TV or fireplace. Another door of the den closes you off from the Gallery. Plenty of Parking! The gravel driveway forms a loop which makes parking anything with a hitch easy (you don't have to back up) If you are coming by Amtrak to Wilmington, DE (8 miles) or flying into Philadelphia International Airport (22 miles), you will need to use Uber. From I-95, take the 202 NORTH Exit, and go straight for 6 miles. We are only 1/2 mile off 202! Please Take Full Advantage Of: -- Your bedroom and all that it supplies: the bathroom, walk-in shower, the washer and dryer, etc. -- the living room (gas fireplace is easy to access with a touch of a button!) -- the kitchen (fridge also has a built-in filtered water/ice dispenser, keurig is also on site free for guests to use) -- the garden with multiple seating areas, a Weber & a Fire Pit -- two music stands for performing on the outside stage -- exterior oversized chess board and game Where Guests Should Refrain From Going: -- the third floor/attic -- this is Francie's bedroom and guests should refrain from going up the stairs -- the garage There is so much to explore on this area! Bike Trails, Walking Trails, Museums & Gardens. 16 ! - in less than a 15 minute circle! plus outstanding restaurants, cute shops, and two wineries! While the home itself is tucked away on one of the numerous back roads in the area, it's surprisingly close to many things. The house is a 1/2 mile from Route 202 (a major road). Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum, Brandywine Battlefield, Whole Foods, Wegman's, Wine & Spirits, Trader Joe's, Target, Costco, and an AMC dine-in theatre are all within a 10-minute drive. Wilmington, DE and West Chester, PA are 15 minutes away. Kennett Square: 20 minutes; Philadelphia Airport: 25 minutes; Philadelphia: 30 minutes 6.4 miles off I-95's Wilmington, DE 202N exit just across the state line in Chadds Ford, PA, the house has plenty of parking for trailers & boats as well as cars. Although guests have walked 1.4 miles to Brandywine Battlefield, 2.2 miles to the Brandywine River Museum and biked 2.1 miles to Delaware's First State National Park Beaver Valley Unit, Ridge Road is very much a back road and does not have sidewalks. Only 25 minutes from the Philadelphia Airport as well as Wilmington, DE's Amtrak Train Station, Uber is frequently here.
