Charming 4 Bedroom Cottage with Shore Front Access & Internet
Spruce Lane Cottage is a charming sunny 2 story 4 bedroom home with a wooden deck and spacious yard. On the first floor of the cottage there is a large living room with a wood burning fireplace, a kitchen, a separate dining area, two bedrooms with queen-sized beds and a full bath with tub/shower. On the second floor there are two separate bedrooms and a full bath; one bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other has two twin beds. A door at the top of the stairs can be closed for privacy. Spruce Lane Cottage has Broadband Internet access, Cable TV, a DVD player and a telephone for local calls. Although not on the waterfront, a shore front access suitable for launching kayaks or canoes is nearby. Explore the waters around the area and then head into the harbor and view the rockbound coastline. The harbor is home to lobster boats, sailboats and yachts during the summer months. Everywhere you look is a photo opportunity. Stop at the public landing and walk over to Cod End. Enjoy a bite to eat dockside and explore the village before continuing on your way. Would you rather take a scenic stroll or go for a short drive? Head toward the village and enjoy the water view along the way. Smell the salt air. Drop by the bakery for a breakfast croissant. Pick up a book to read at Jackson Memorial Library which also has WiFi. Continue on to Granite Gardens for a cup of coffee in a peaceful setting. A rustic or refined lunch or dinner can be had in either local restaurants or in those a short drive away. Do you want to go to the beach? Drift-In Beach is a beautiful sandy beach at low tide. It is located on the road to Port Clyde ~ 4 miles away. Bring the kids. Take a picnic lunch. Have a great day! Are you interested in other other activities? Drive north and explore the shops in Rockland, experience the beauty of Rockport or drive a little farther to Camden. There, drive, climb or mountain bike to the top of Mt. Battie. Delight in the breathtaking view of Camden and its harbor and the offshore islands. Picnic areas are located at the base of the mountain. Browse the shops or have lunch or dinner as you walk around Camden Village or purchase a 2-4 hour cruise of Penobscot Bay on one of the schooners located in Camden Harbor. Or drive south on Route 1 into Thomaston and visit the Prison Store. Most visitors who are aware of the store, stop and look at the lovely handcrafted items in the store, from beds and bureaus to whimsical fancies. Another great day trip can be had by booking passage on the ferry from Port Clyde for a trip to Monhegan Island. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenic views as you hike around the island before returning to the mainland the same day. Lighthouses an interest? There is the Marshall Point Light house on the way to Port Clyde a few miles down the road and the Owls Head Light a little farther in the other direction. The Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse is about 12 miles away in the Town of Rockland off of Route 1. All up and down the coast there are light houses to visit. A multiplex movie theater is located in Thomaston about 10 miles away on Route 1. A public golf course is located in Rockland. Enjoy shopping, antiquing and visiting the art galleries and museums in the surrounding areas. Most of all enjoy the seafood at the many restaurants along the Route, OR, stop and pick up some fresh Maine seafood to prepare at the cottage. After dinner, relax on the deck and enjoy the onshore breeze with its invigorating salt air as you watch the sun set, or sit in front of a crackling fire and read a good book, play a board game or watch TV.
