Historic Victorian Cottage walk through room

Close to Downtown Schenectady, Union College, SCCC and ViaPort Mall. Albany, Saratoga Springs and Altamont are in driving distance. Public transportation is within a block, Albany airport is fifteen minutes away, downtown Schenectady many nightlife spots only a couple miles away, local park offers free swimming. We have a large yard, private parking. Great family restaurants, convenience store and gas station around the corner. My place is good for solo adventurers. Close to I890 and I88. Upstairs walk through bedroom finished specifically for guests. The single bed with a memory foam mattress is tucked into nook on side of stairs leading to attic. The stairs are used regularly for a PRIVATE attic bedroom (The attic is NOT open to guests) however there is a curtain spanning the room for complete privacy. The door is shared for this room and the attic. There's a small closet and some storage under the stairs, a small dresser and a comfy chair. Shared bathroom is at the end of a short hall and there is a second half bathroom available on the main floor. All bedrooms for the family are on the second floor. The attic is used for a private family member bedroom and gets minimal traffic. The house is a fixer upper and there are some areas that are waiting for repairs. Note: We do have a large, noisy, temperamental macaw that take a couple days to get used to new guests. The macaw does bite if bothered. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, extra bathroom, dining room, sitting room, laundry, porch and yard. There is private off street parking. We enjoy interacting with our guests and want you to make yourself at home while you are staying. We do NOT have tv or cable however there is wifi. Please leave the animals alone. We can introduce them to you when we are home. The macaw takes a couple days to get used to people so please leave them alone. We are family style and like to know approximate coming and going times and if you would like to eat breakfast or dinner with us. All food should be kept and consumed downstairs. Please let us know if anyone is going to visit. We love interacting with our guests and want you to feel at home while away from home. If there's anything you are expecting or would like but not finding please ask. We want you to be comfortable. We have a large macaw that will warm up to you after a couple days. Nice neighborhood in Bellevue portion of the city of Schenectady. There is a great diner across the street, convenience store, family dollar, Chinese restaurant and gas station in short walking distance. The bus stop is on the corner. Within one mile there are two parks (one with a pool), Subway, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, and a library. A small mall with aquarium, BJ's, Office Depot and Dollar Tree are a short 1.5 mile drive. Downtown Schenectady is approximately two miles away and has many restaurants, Union College, SCCC, Proctors theater and a couple museums. Fun place on its own. We have a great waterfall hiking place about eight miles away. Also fun to visit is the Erie Canal which has a paved bike path running next to it. Easy day visits to Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Albany and Crossgates Mall. We are a couple hours from many Adirondack mountains and Catskill Mountains. Schenectady is a great city to drive around in and there’s quite a bit of parking downtown. The city bus system is quite large and can get you around easily. Schedules are posted on the CDTA website. If our schedule allows we may be able to help a bit with transportation. We are two miles from Greyhound and the train station. We are about a fifteen minute drive from Albany airport. The parking garage for downtown Schenectady is two miles away and there are many free parking lots that can be used. As noted in description this room does have stairs used for a PRIVATE attic bedroom with a curtain spanning the space to provide complete privacy. Please do not go up there! Large mostly fenced in yard gives this house a bit of a country feel in the middle of the city. We also have a few different pets - one mini rex bunny, a macaw and a hedgehog. One room in the house is used for a balloon business. The macaw parrot does bite. They are curious and want to meet you but don’t want to be touched. They take a couple days to warm up. They are a lot of fun however they are best left alone.
