Livonia's at the NW corner of Detroit, about 20-30 min from dntwn; DTW airport; Ford, GM, Daimler-Chrysler Hdqtrs, Ann Arbor. Everyone's welcome here! Absolutely lo-o-o-ove diversity, ...even UofM fans, as we're very forgiving. I even used to speak pretty good Spanish! Very safe neighborhood. Playground park 5 houses down at end of street. Booking limit of 7 days max, but only to keep your cleaning fee low. If extra days needed, please book extra weeks too! Guest-only frig/frzr, Keurig coffee. We're on a country-like acre, with built-in pool (Memorial-Labor Day, anyway) in summer. All available rooms 1st floor. Lotta nature and wildlife: deer, raccoons, woodchucks, bats, and lotsa birds (even occasional hawks, falcons, and owls) and nighttime crickets n' stuff, n' the occasional coyote. We park in garage, but room for two more of your vehicles in driveway. I built this house myself over 15 years, so please come ready to forgive. Harrumph! Please note that the front door to the house, as well as your bedroom, will have a 4-digit coded digital lock, to which only you and I will have the code--same code for both. I change them with each new guest. Meantime, ... You're very welcome to: * all kitchen appliances, tools, plates, silverware * Keurig coffee maker with coupla different flavors * laundry washer, dryer, iron, detergents. Fresh bath towels daily. * all bathroom and shower/bath amenities, including towels, wash cloths * living room and bedroom Cable TV, Wi-Fi, HBO, books, mags, popcorn * half of a separate refrigerator that I have just for guests' use * 1 large shelf in a separate stand-up freezer * Dining room * Weider multi-weight machine, and regular bench, treadmill, altho bsmt space a little tight. * Summertime backyard built-in pool, large stone deck, and propane grill * Backyard acre completely fenced for non-climbing pets. Orangutans could probably escape though. Fence will likely NOT hold bison, brown bear, etc. * Free parking in one spot or other in the driveway. Entirely up to you. You want privacy, no sweat. Prefer a little conversation, or someone to watch football or a movie with, we're good with that too. Never met a person we didn't find interesting, and most of 'em we really got to like. Coffee's always free, but I know everyone's tastes vary--Starbucks? Dunkin'? Ugh, so complicated, eh? My son and I cook pretty much every day, but simple, healthy, sometimes weird stuff. You're welcome to use the kitchen too; ...and there're bunches of restaurants nearby, and quite a bit of ethnic diversity...even pizza, McDonalds, Chinese, subs, and KY Fried. Very very safe neighborhood. Run/jog/walk to your heart's content. Schoolyard and soccer park 5 houses dn at end of street. Kroger Groceries, Meijer's, many dept stores/strip malls, AMC-20 Theater, Home Depot, lotsa bars/restaurants, banks, all within 3-5 miles, many less than 1 mi. There's only room for 4 extra cars in the driveway. Public trans not great in Livonia. Bicycle available. Only a few things in walking distance, ...ice cream? Nearby dntn Farmington (2 mi) is always active, produce market Sat morn there too, as well as Starbucks, Coldstone. Bunch o' bars n' restaurants within a mile or two--Chinese, Szechuan, Taiwanese, Japanese, Mexican, Irish, Polish, Indian, Polynesian, Italian, Greek, Arabic, ...even a couple American like Big Boy, Coney Island, and a whole slew o' fast food stuff! I'm very willing to drive you wherever, but ask for $.50/mile, including my return trip without you, just to cover gas and time; i,e, p/u from airport, 24 miles from here, round trip for me is 48, so I'd ask for $24. MOST pets are fine, unless, like, ...a rhino. I ask an additional $5/day for each pet you bring. However, I have to add one important exception. All of us here absolutely lo-o-o-ove dogs. BUT, we have to say "NO" TO PIT BULLS, whether purebred or mixed breed. Unfortunately, we've had 3 incidents of attacks, perhaps because we have two rooms on airbnb here, and so we have strangers in fairly often. And I just can't afford to risk losing the house because of a lawsuit. Anyway, if you have a dog that has ANY pit in him/her at all, I'll' have to ask you not to stay. I'll be willing to refund your money, but I know that you'd lose some of it to airbnb; let alone that you'd have to scramble to find a place for the night. Nobody needs that, right? Another caution. We had a wonderful Dalmatian for all of her life. And my daughter raises really cool German Short-Haired Pointers and Rat Terriers, albeit in Arizona. I'm just amazed at what escape artists those GSPs can be. I've seen them walking atop a 6' chain-link fence like a crutchin' squirrel! Sheesh. They also run like the wind and jump as effortlessly as a deer. That means that my 42" high fence around the perimeter may not be much of a barrier to a GSP or Dalmatian or other breed with similar abilities. Just a note of caution. We can host them, but we can't always watch them out in the backyard. In addition, a caution about small dogs or pets. We used to have about 20 rabbits here and a Chihuahua. Over two years, all of the rabbits were eventually killed by either a Great horned owl who moved in for that duration, or else by a local fox that we never knew lived around here. And the Chihuahua was nearly lost one afternoon when he was dive-bombed by a neighborhood hawk. I ran out from beneath a tree just in the knick of time yelling my head off at him, and the hawk pivoted back up on a dime. Close one. The lesson, of course, is enjoy the backyard with your fury friend, but please be out there with them. We do keep a pooper scooper at the ready for ya. With any other animal, please call first. That's because we have a 3-month-old kitten here, a very friendly older blind dog sometimes, and an occasional outside Tomcat who crashes in the living room. If you can text me or call me with an approximate arrival time, I'll try to be sure not to be out somewhere gallivanting when you arrive, just to make sure you can find everything okay. I'm a recently retired school principal, and, although still plenty busy, schedule is very flexible. And I no longer grade on tardiness.
