Unique treehouse cabin with all amenities inspired by forest ranger lookout. Though not actually attached to a tree, the outpost treehouse sits in a white pine forest in the middle of a 65 acre active farm. The 15 hand crafted windows allow for great views watching out for Michigan wildlife--White tail deer, turkeys, owls, coyote have all been spotted from the elevated wrap around deck. The lookout inspired outpost has all the modern amenities--Air conditioning, furnace, private bath with shower, hot and cold running water. Solar power is used for interior lights. The 14x14 room has a queen size bed, a comfy chair, small table with 2 chairs, buffet cabinet with bar sink, small refrigerator for drinks and coffee maker. The refrigerator is quite small so bring a cooler and ice if you bring perishable food. There are no cooking facilities in the treehouse but there is a propane gas grill outside. There is also a fire pit. Bring wood so you can enjoy an evening by the fire. NEW IN SPRING OF 2021!!! We have added a “glamping” tent. It is a 12x14 platform tent that has windows on 3 sides, a front door with screen, 2 beds (30x78). This is designed to accommodate another couple or older children who can sleep alone. There is a $25/night cost for each person. There is an electric heater for the cool nights but we don’t recommend using the tent in November or December . There is a portable air conditioner for your comfort during the warm summer. The tent is always in addition to the treehouse. You cannot rent just the tent. The ground level is the “mechanical “ room and the bathroom. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE AND DOWN THE STAIRS TO GO TO THE BATHROOM…we do provide an umbrella in case it’s raining. We consider it part of the adventure! Relax, watch for wildlife, sit around the camp fire (minimal wood provided) or take a walk through the woods ( bring boots or old shoes if it’s wet) If you must connect to the world, complimentary wifi is available, along with a 32” Roku TV. A light continental breakfast will be provided. Usually either muffins, scones or coffee cake along with juice and coffee/tea/cocoa. These will be in the room when you arrive. If your stay is longer than 3 nights we will bring your additional sweets out and leave them in a cooler on the deck. We always love to meet our guests but we know some just enjoy exploring on their own. Most often we just let you go back on your own but if you request it, we can meet you back there to show it off! Secluded rural setting but only a short drive to “city life”. Some things to see and do within 30 minutes : Kalamazoo Air Zoo, Binder Park Zoo (Battle Creek), Kingman Museum ( Battle Creek), Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary (Athens). Within 15 minutes of Binder Park Golf Course and many restaurants in Battle Creek Fort Custer Sate Park is about 18 miles away. It has great biking trails, hiking trails and Eagle Lake. Also in Battle Creek is Ott Biological Preserve-a 300 acre nature preserve and Woodland Park -a 145 acre nature preserve There is a “country lane” drive back to treehouse with a nice limestone circle drive . We are a 10 mile drive from Battle Creek where there is shopping and restaurants. You could bring bikes and ride along the rural roads. To access the bathroom you must go outside and downstairs...there are lights on the staircase for those nightly trips! The refrigerator is very small-only holding a few bottles of water and juice. We can supply a cooler for you if you let us know in advance.
