Garden Cottage In The Catskills

This quaint cottage sits among flowering gardens in summer, incredible fall foliage in autumn, & a wonderland in winter. Enjoy a peaceful cozy space to relax, an outdoor fire pit, stargazing, & your own stone patios at the edge of the woods. We love to share our garden veggies, come pick your own! We are in the ♥️ of the Catskill Mountains & 2 miles from Phoenicia in the hamlet of Chichester. The cottage is filled with lovely artwork inspired by our travels and every corner is a pleasure! Welcome! We have lovingly designed and renovated the cottage inspired by our travels and our love of nature. It was an old barn which we transformed into a private cottage in the spring of 2016. We have continued to add stone patios and gardens, hand made cabinetry & artistic touches. Balinese touches including wood carvings & batik art adorn this tranquil space. We are on premises in our main house and available yet offer you your privacy. The cottage is approximately 350 square feet and excellent for two people. There is a beautiful wooden handmade queen size bed with a therapeutic mattress for sleeping and for lounging. The cottage has a kitchenette (no stove top or oven) stocked with gourmet coffees and teas, a microwave, sink and mini fridge and is equipped with dishes other basics you may need. (Please note that the cottage does NOT have an oven or traditional stove top but there is an outdoor grill). The windows looks out over the gardens filled with beautiful birds and flowers. Our gardens are yours to enjoy and there are fresh organic vegetables during our growing season which we are happy to share! There is a stone patio just outside, with a BBQ and a fire pit, at the base of a lovely wooded area where you can star gaze in the big open sky, roast marshmallows, and relax in nature. Hiking trails into the mountains and to the incredible waterfalls are near by. The bathroom has a beautiful hand tiled & stone shower looking out into the woods. We supply locally made luxurious soaps and lotions and our bathroom is a mini spa! The cottage is in a separate building from our main house, about 20 steps away, connected to our own woodworking & furniture shop. There is plenty of privacy, and many of our guests come here to have solitude and respite from the busy world. We are involved in projects to support artists & students from around the globe and there are beautiful hand made items for sale in the cottage which provide direct support for the crafts people we work with. We have a gorgeous cat named Ruby who lives in our private home and spends her days outside greeting guests and chasing butterflies. We are 15 minutes drive from Hunter Ski Slope, and Belleayre Mountain, and the incredible Kaaterskill falls. We have wonderful places to eat nearby, including the famous Phoenicia Diner, and wonderful restaurants in Woodstock and Tannersville for all of you foodies. Lots of fun shopping, terrific hiking trails, mountain streams and lakes are all very close by. We are so happy that so many enthusiastic fun loving people are coming to our area, some moving here and starting great little business, and others just enjoying the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. The cottage is a separate building from the owners home, but is just next door. Access to the cottage is private, though you will share the stone walkways with the owners to your own door. In the back of the cottage is a private patio with your own Weber propane BBQ and a fire pit. We supply propane and wood for your use. You are welcome to roam the gardens, shared by the main house and to be completely at home on the property. We often have fresh vegetables in our organic gardens and will invite you to pick your own! I am happy to guide you through the garden and show you picking techniques. The cottage is connected to a woodworking shop, and the doors between the shop and the cottage will be locked. If you would like a tour of our shops, just ask! We are happy to show you around and to answer questions. The shop operates Monday through Friday during the day. There may be humming and whirling sounds of the woodworking machinery during those times. The shop will not be operating on weekends or evenings. We will greet you and show you around when you arrive, we provide as much privacy as you need but will be available to you. We are a working couple, and will be out and about at various times. We both work from home. If we are out at your arrival time we will arrange everything to let yourself in. We may leave things for you, local treats and farm fresh vegetables if you would like. We are 2 miles outside of Phoenicia, in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York. We are 15 minutes drive from Hunter Ski Slope, and Belleayre Mountain, and 30 minutes from Windham. There are incredible hiking trails with choices of easy walks to a full days hike. We have many maps of state trails available. There are also gorgeous streams and waterfalls, some hidden gems we can share with you. You will need a car unless you are a very strong bike rider! It's a very steep hill we live on! There are fantastic restaurants all around us, and a ton of great things to do. Woodstock is just 20 minutes from us. Great music, festivals, arts, and wonderful restaurants. Nature abounds! Public transport is pretty much non-existent here, and a car is necessary unless you are a serious walker/biker. We are a steep but gorgeous 2 mile walk into the village of Phoenicia. We have wifi for your use. There is no cell service here. Texting is available with wifi and the owners may be reached through text message when we are not at home. We do not have television in the cottage.
