A unique experience a decade in the making is Quarter House Acres. You'll stay in a private 2 bedroom suite comprised of the Coop (queen 🛏) & Orchard (queen 🛏) rooms w/ bath in part of our residence (groups over 4 & to 6 should bring extra bedding & a cot or may sleep on the floor). Incredible view-sunsets are epic & stars at night 'aint bad either! 🐓Chickens are ranging and orchard trees are producing varied fruit on our acreage. Vegetable, lavender beds, & pastures are here to explore. ***Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations as part of our standard top-to-bottom cleaning. We continue to keep the health and safety of you, our guests, very seriously.*** Social distancing at its finest-no better place for that staycation away from the city or for some time alone or with your significant other or friends than here at Quarter House Acres. No big city noise or light pollution in these parts and the outdoors here will offer a welcomed respite from those masks. Enjoy the quiet of the country in your own private, 2 queen bedroom suite (2nd bedroom available when party size requires it) while here and is a private portion of our residence. There is limited seating inside but are 2 seating areas outside to relax with your morning coffee, read a book, play games, or to enjoy the beautiful summer sunsets. This homestead is the realization of our dream to be more self-sufficient and live a simpler and slower life. **Late Winter UPDATE (3/2/22)** A little green is starting to show with onion starts planted and snap peas beginning to sprout. Old chicken coop-to-greenhouse/garden shed renovation continues. Turkey’s should begin laying eggs any day now. Chicken coop upgrade planned over the next few months. 🦃 **NEWEST EDITIONS** Turkey additions have fun to listen to and watch in their enclosure down the hill. 🐈⬛ Rescued kitten, Kringle, will make her outdoor debut (to begin her pest control duties), on our acreage soon with warmer weather arriving. ⚡️Charge your phone devices without getting out of bed (chargers located on both sides of your bed). 💻 Desks in both rooms and super high-speed wi-fi for this area. Great for a change of pace for a remote work week in the country. ☕️ Our coffee bar provides that caffeine fix with an extensive variety of complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate (most likely the biggest variety on the planet, but for sure the area 😉). Decaf and wide selection of other caffeinated coffees available. 🍔 New charcoal grill, utensils, salt & pepper available for your use with an outdoor sink as well for cleanup-just bring the charcoal, the meat and your fixins. 🔥 Enjoy those spring and summer evenings with our fire pit with firewood and roasting sticks-just bring your own marshmallows, stuff for s’mores or hotdogs! 🏃♀️🏃♂️ Get a little exercise and lots of fresh air on our 1/4 mile walking path in the lower pasture. 🛎 Use our one-of-a-kind digital voice concierge to learn more about our place and do a deeper dive into the local area. 👨👨👧👦 Families with older children are welcomed, though the space is not setup for toddlers, unfortunately. We ask that children be supervised while enjoying the farm and farm animals. 🚙 Super convenient to everything as we’re just 5 miles north of Stephenville in a small neighborhood on a private road. ➡️ 10 minutes from Tarleton State University, Lonestar Arena, and Twisted J Live. ➡️ 5 minutes from Larry Joe Taylor’s Melody Mountain Ranch. ➡️ 40 scenic minutes from Glen Rose’s Fossil Rim Wildlife Park & Dinosaur Valley State Park. ➡️ 30 minutes from Dublin (home of former Dublin Dr. Pepper, Black Jack’s Coffee, and Veldhuizen) ➡️ 30 minutes north of Hico’s historic downtown shopping district Hico (don’t miss Wiseman House Chocolates 😋). ➡️ 20 minutes south of the famous Texas ghost town of Thurber of Thurber brick fame (enjoy the museum, cemetery, Smokestack and New York Hill restaurants). ➡️ Just a 20 minute scenic drive from I-20 for those traveling cross country and hoping to stay someplace truly special. Extended stays are welcome and those over a week in length will be asked to pay an additional $30 cleaning fee (charged upon arrival) each week of your stay, so we can do a thorough weekly cleaning to include a change of sheets and towels, etc. **While here, you may ask, “What’s with all those piles of bricks?!!” Matt has spent the last 6 months sourcing old antique Texas brick from across the state for new pathways and patios we’ve got planned. Appreciate your patience as those upgrades come together. Keypad entrance with access to your private suite and shared bath for your stay. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar, microwave, mini fridge, and some snacks offered while here. No access to kitchen and laundry. Guests are free to wander our 6 acres, admire the view and amazing sunsets off the back of the house, and stargaze to their heart’s content on clear nights. Pick a snack of a few 🍑 peaches, apricots, 🍐 pears, figs, mulberries, blackberries, or blueberries fresh off the tree while in season. Lavender may be flowering just down the hill in our raised beds as well. Grab a morning cup of coffee from the coffee and tea bar, eat a meal at our patio table, or roast marshmallows over an open fire in the fire pit. No gym needed when you can walk or run on our 1/4 mile perimeter path in the lower acreage of the property. Summer produce, 🥚 eggs, and fresh cut lavender available for purchase when in season. Matt & Amy are on site much of the time, so if you need anything, please text or message us via the AirBnB app. Veteran foodies, let us know your plans and we’ll be happy to share the best-of-the-best from the local food scene. We're only 🚙 5 miles north of Stephenville and Tarleton State University. Located on a quiet private road with almost no traffic. Zero traffic jams here, except when you occasionally find yourself behind a local farmer on a 🚜 tractor for a minute or two. Even though the house has been here since 2003, you might find your navigation app unable to locate our place, so we've provided directions that you should have access to to find us. Our favorite restaurants in Stephenville include Hard 8 BBQ (the best BBQ on the PLANET!), 🌮 Fuzzy's Tacos, and Caam's wood-fired 🍕pizza. If you're looking for the absolute best ☕️ coffee in Erath county and the most amazing craft beer and soda selection anywhere near here, it's at a little place called Lingleville Country Store about 15 minutes NW of us. Lance Battenfield is a coffee, 🍺 craft beer and soda connoisseur and this out of the way place is an experience you don't want to miss! Try the fresh baked blueberry or strawberry cream cheese muffins or some amazing pie when there as well. Visit Hico, TX (30 minutes south) if you're looking for a small old Texas town with some neat shops. 🍫 Wiseman House Chocolates located at 406 Grubbs St, Hico, TX 76457 is one of our favorites. Owners, Kevin and LaDonne Wentzel, take the art of hand crafted chocolate to an entirely new level! Try some samples while there and take some pecan toffee (Matt's favorite) or a Wild Woman truffle (Amy likes those) or 10 home with you. For lunch in Hico, try Flaca's Fitness and Brews for street tacos, salads, and their chicken pita pizza is the (Website hidden by Airbnb) Visit Dublin, TX (30minutes to the SW) if you’re interested in some local flavor and history. Dublin Bottling Works, which is the original producer of Dr. Pepper, is there (take the tour or visit Old Doc's Soda Shop) or visit 🧀 Veldhuizen Cheese which is located between Stephenville and Dublin at 425 S Private Road 1169, Dublin, TX 76446 for amazing artisanal cheese. Our favorites are the Jalapeno cheddar and Redneck cheddar! Lance of Lingleville Country Store just opened up ☕️ Blackjack's Coffee in downtown Dublin, so check that out when there-amazing coffee and good food (Matt's favorite is the turkey popper sandwich, BTW). Visit Glen Rose and (30 mins) with 🦖Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim Wildlife Park. Grab some food at Loco Coyote several miles on the Stephenville side of town. Convenient driveway parking. 📱 Cell phone access is good for most while here. AT & T is especially strong here for those with their service. Highspeed Wi-Fi from Nextlink provided.
