Barnsite Retreat
The Barnsite Retreat and Events Center is a place that brings people together- friends, family, colleagues and those with common interests looking for a peaceful place to gather. The historic barn is located blocks from the Kewaunee Harbor and Lake Michigan... built 150 years ago at the foot of the Door County Peninsula it is also within steps of the Ice Age Trail. The location is perfect for the hiking , biking, canoe, kayak and fishing enthusiasts. A touch of history and of nature. The Barnsite Residence is built directly into a 150 year old- beautiful and refurbished- barn! It has approximately (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) square feet of living space which includes a full kitchen, large laundry room, living room, dining room, den, 4 bedrooms (some on the smaller side) and 2 1/2 baths. The master bedroom has a queen bed and full bath. There are bedrooms on the second floor inside each of two silos. Kids love the round rooms! The rest of the barn is used for large events (booked separately through our website) and includes gallery space with track lighting; sandblasted wood posts, beams, and ceilings; warmly finished concrete floors and nice south light. The second floor opens into the full loft of the barn, what we call the Great Room, with a ceiling that soars 40 feet high. This is the traditional "big barn" space, but is unique in it's layout. While most barns are not heated, this great space has been insulated and is heated. Through the doors of the Great Room lies the lounge - constructed from only materials found in the barn itself. There are 3 bathrooms in the events area of the barn. The beautiful outdoor deck is accessed from inside the Great Room via giant double glass doors with photographer's favorite filtered natural light. Luscious landscaping, countless flower beds and a diverse variety of unique mature and smaller trees surround the entire barn, adding to the visual delights of this gorgeous space. We are happy to give our booked guests a tour of the "Events Center" by request. The residence booking is for use of the house only - with the possibility of limited use of events spaces if the rental is for smaller crafting groups (jewelry, quilting, scrap-booking, etc.). Use of the entire barn is reserved for large events such as weddings, family reunions, fundraisers and end-of-season sports and school related events. Owners live nearby. Kewaunee is a quaint hillside town with a deep water harbor on the shores of Lake Michigan. Popular for salmon fishing, it is "small-town touristy", with a heritage farm, large antique mall, hiking trails, cheese store and 3 wineries within a 30 minute drive. Catch the fall and spring salmon runs at the Besadney Fish Hatchery as chinook, coho and steelhead trout climb the fish ladder. For winter outings the Kewaunee ski, snowboard and tubing hill are minutes away. 40 minutes from Green Bay, groups sometimes book the weekend for Packer game stays - and utilize the bus that makes various stops around the area to transport fans to and from home games. The owners also own "Clay on Steele", a pottery shop located 8 miles north in Algoma. It is both a gallery and a teaching center operated by a co-op. Members of the co-op do the instruction for individuals or groups on wheel throwing and hand building pottery. Check us out at (Website hidden by Airbnb) or our (Hidden by Airbnb) page.
