Our 1780's farmhouse has been completely renovated and retains its rustic country feel. Experience early American period life with only a few modern conveniences (e.g. full laundry and 5G wi-fi). Our remote setting on 19 wooded acres in southern Mass is minutes from I-90 and I-84, and borders CT, OSV and the Westville rec area. Book your stay now! This unique property offers quiet woods and meadows hosting an abundance of birds and a variety of wildlife. Enjoy taking it all in from 'his and hers' rocking chairs on the front porch. The bedrooms are comfy and inviting. There is a writing desk and reading area, and the living room has a working wood burning fireplace. The large kitchen is completely equipped if you choose to dine in but there a many outstanding restaurants within a 5 mile radius. The floors may creak and the ceilings might be a bit crooked but you will feel safe and cozy in this lovely 200 plus year old home! The attached studio can be rented for an additional fee. Your co-host can be reached by phone and is a quick minute away. This is a VERY quiet neighborhood! The crickets and peep toads will lull you to sleep. Activities in Sturbridge include summer concerts on the common, dining at the Publick House, Cedar Street Grille or many other fine restaurants. Many lakes with great fishing. A brewery or two. Antiques galore!! The Metro Bistrot in Southbridge serves the most exquisite French cuisine! There is a fine public golf course close by, the Heritage Country Club, and several others just a short drive away. Westville recreation area is within walking distance where you can picnic, fish, canoe or hike along the Grand Trunk railway trail. Of course, the Old Sturbridge Village is a must do and only 5 minutes away. August 4&5 is the largest military re-enactment in New England at OSV. September is Woodstock Fair days. October is best for Fall foliage. November Thanksgiving at OSV or Drover’s Roast at Salem Cross Inn. Christmas stroll at OSV shouldn’t be missed. Shuttle service can be arranged. Remember that this property is over 200 years old!!! The wood floors may have nails or splinters so shoes should be worn at all times. There are stairs leading to the bedrooms and the baths are on the first floor. Dogs are welcome and a day care service can be provided by an adjoining home. Not recommended for children under age 10.
