Owner is retired and a longtime resident of the Northwoods. Since we live in the upper level of our home, we can assist you with concierge services and offer unique insider tips about our local area. DOG FRIENDLY Paradise Point is Dog-Friendly and you must agree to our HOUSE RULES (at the bottom of the page) and be responsible for clean up and any damage caused by your dog. Paradise Point is the lake level of our 3,600 SF lakefront home on a private 175-acre lake with no public access! Would crystal clear lake water, easy slope to a sand beach, large well-manicured lawn areas, great fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and two fire pits are all visible from a large relaxing enclosed sun room with patio furniture. Although you will have endless opportunities for fun, you will also have privacy and solitude in our remote location. Paradise Point is open and ready year-round with all the things you need for great Northwoods family fun in every season! SUMMER IS OUR BUSIEST SEASON. IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR OUR GUESTS, WE PREFER SUNDAY AFTERNOON CHECK-IN AND SUNDAY MORNING CHECK-OUT. Summer Airbnb rentals include use of the following at no extra charge: - 2 outdoor beachfront areas with firepits, - 10 Adirondack chair and free firewood at the main and remote point fire pits, - A fishing pier and a swimming pier, - 4 hammocks, - 2 adult and 3 children’s bikes (with helmets), - 2 sit-in kayaks, and 1 Old-Town Heron youth kayak - 2 paddle boards, and - a 17' canoe, - all with paddles and life preservers! - Optional: Remote camping/dining area with REI Grand Hut 4-person tent for those who want to be totally immersed in nature. Paradise Point has a level approach to the lake and to our sandy beach on Big Martha Lake. Pan fish like bluegill and sunfish are plentiful and fun for the kids right off our pier, with occasional perch and bass. Larger fish like northern, musky, bass, crappie, and walleye make Big Martha a rewarding fishing experience for all ages during all seasons. The outdoor common areas (driveways, 2 campfire pits, beach areas, 2 piers, and lawn area) are shared with your hosts and occasional visits from our family members. We respect your personal space and will limit contact as you prefer. In the fall, the colors are beautiful in the Northwoods. The stargazing opportunities are amazing, and at certain times of the year, the viewing of the Northern Lights can be spectacular from Paradise Point. INTERIOR Paradise Point is the lake level of our 3,600 SF lakefront home. Create your own meals with a full and well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, a BBQ grill, and an enclosed sun room with family size picnic table plus comfortable seating for more. Have your choice: Drink your morning coffee or savor your favorite glass of wine in a 6-person sauna while watching the cozy electric fireplace and enjoying a view of nature and Martha Lake. For those who enjoy some physical activity during the winter months, we also offer a treadmill. Paradise Point is perfect for relaxing, with two spacious bedrooms featuring down comforters (in winter) and luxury hotel pillows. Enjoy a great night’s sleep in the lakeview bedroom on the memory foam king bed or in the Bear’s Den point view bedroom on the pillow-top queen bed. The lakeside bedroom also has a romantic quartz electric fireplace. Both bedrooms feature the owner’s handmade furniture, large closets to store personal items, plus extra pillows and blankets that will keep you warm in bed or as you enjoy an evening out on the enclosed sun room during the crisp fall/spring months. The suite also features two comfortable reading chairs with foot rests! For increased flexibility in your sleeping options, we include two extra large single camp cots with memory foam mattresses. Your Family room has a Smart HD TV, electric fireplace, and a convertible sofa/bed featuring a queen size memory foam mattress. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, with a dining table and six chairs (plus included highchair), a dishwasher, oven/range, microwave, family size refrigerator, both Keurig and Bunn coffee makers, toaster, and two crock pots to help you to prepare and enjoy amazing meals during your stay. All basic kitchen amenities are included, such as plates, silverware, glasses, pots & pans, cooking and baking utensils, Instant Pot, cast-iron Dutch oven, ovenware, kitchen linens, napkins, paper towels, basic spices, olive oil, and more. Your full bathroom includes luxurious bath towel sets for 6 and a starter supply of shampoo, conditioner, and soap. The 6-person sauna gives you an amazing view of the lake while you relax and detoxify your body in the soothing heat. Your sauna experience includes towels, a water bucket with ladle, and a variety of sauna scents. Your lake-level space also features a large private storage area to hang coats, store luggage, and store large personal items. The storage area also contains towels for the sauna and/or beach, extra paper goods, linens, towels, high chair, a pack & play, a toddler airbed, blankets, extra pillows, iron & ironing board, and more. ACTIVITIES Hike, bicycle, ATV, or right from Paradise Point to the nearby trailheads. Hundreds of miles of connecting trails are available for your enjoyment. Well-groomed cross country ski trails are available within a five-mile drive. Search the web for Mecca or WinMan trails for more information. We are located about 30 minutes south of the world famous Copper Peak Ski Jump, the Midwest’s finest ski hills, and endless hiking opportunities in the Black River Harbor and Porcupine Mountain Wilderness areas. Stretch your legs hiking or biking, and revel in the beauty of a campfire (wood included) as you end your day. EV (Electric Vehicle) FRIENDLY We encourage guests to bring electric vehicles by providing a 240V 30-amp charging receptacle (NEMA 14-30). Charging is free for guest vehicles if used during non-peak hours (weekdays 8PM-8AM CT plus all weekends and holidays). Internet access speed tests (Mbps download/upload): Broadband 100+/20+ Verizon 10/3 US Cellular 10/3 We designed our first floor lake level guest suite to be a private paradise with separate access for our guests. Paradise Point guests have 2 private entrances. Paradise Point includes free parking for 2 vehicles; however, with prior approval of owners, guests may request parking for up to 4 vehicles. The Paradise Point guest suite makes up the lower level of our home. Our permanent residence is the upper level. We are an active couple who come and go, so we may not be present during your stay. However, we will always be available by text or phone to assist you with any questions you may have. The outdoor common areas (beach, 2 campfire pits, docks, and lawn area) are shared with us and occasional visiting family members. Also, you will sometimes see us outdoors as we do our routine property maintenance such as mowing lawn or splitting campfire wood. We have also prepared an extensive User Guide to provide useful information on all the Paradise Point amenities. Big Martha Lake, in Mercer Wisconsin, is a 175-acre lake with no public access. Mercer is the home of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, offering nearly 19,000 acres of water and 35,500 acres of public land for you to use and enjoy throughout the year. The Northwoods is home to several old growth forests. Mercer also has numerous snowmobile, ATV, hiking, and cross-country ski trails. Within a 30 minute drive are several ski hills in Ironwood, Michigan. - Search the web for Ski UP to find more information. - Search the web for MeccaTrails for local cross country skiiing, snowshoeing, and hiking information. Many guests like to see Dillinger’s bullet holes at the Little Bohemia Restaurant just a few miles south of Mercer on Highway 51. Paradise Point is 1.5 miles from Mercer, a town with a grocery store, several gas stations and restaurants, and access to biking and ATV/snowmobile trails. Paradise Point has two entrances, the main entrance is accessible via pin-pad, while the lakefront/sunroom side is accessible through the screened-in sun room (glass windows in colder seasons). Your space is completely private and we respect your privacy. With our active lifestyle, we come and go often. Self-check in is available, but we prefer in-person in order to provide our guests with a tour of Paradise Point and its many amenities and safety features. A comprehensive User Guide will be presented to you at check-in so that you have answers to the most common questions and you are comfortable in operating all amenities. We have just a few simple house rules which are required for all guests and visitors: 1. Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on our property. 2. You must agree to our HOUSE RULES (at the bottom of the page) and be responsible for clean up and any damage caused by your dog(s). 3. You may only have campfires within designated campfire rings. 4. Snowmobiles are not permitted on paved areas or the upper driveway. 5. Guests are not permitted to bring their own motorized boats. 6. Due to the secluded nature of our lake, loud parties are prohibited. Noise around the campfire must be kept to a minimum from dusk to dawn.
