A peaceful private prairie escape. Wildflowers and songbirds Hawks drifting above the trees Walking paths, a creek in the spring Cathedral of trees with a tree swing. Full kitchen (no microwave) Full bathroom (no tub) Full size bed (& a closet) in the bedroom. Cell reception is pleasantly spotty ; ) Close enough to town for anything you need. Far enough away for peaceful solitude. Cows & horses sunrises and sunsets rainstorms, and windy days 180 view of the land from the living room. New tiny house cottage surrounded by 11 acres of wildflower fields and pockets of mature trees. This is our family vacation home we invite you to enjoy. You’ll find lots of personality here with family photos and inspiring quotes from our mom. The bedroom has a full sized bed with a Casper mattress. (It had a bunk bed for awhile, which you’ll see in the reviews was not well received, so we went back to the same bed as before). Kitchen has coffee & traditional coffee pot and plenty of pots, pans utensils, etc. The outdoor ‘yard’ grass is kept high for the wildflowers with paths mown through it. There’s a small fire pit and a seating area with four chairs. There’s a tree swing near a great big wind chime In the trees near the pond. Recent changes: - Cows left the property in March 2021 which means less cow dung, smoother ground with less hoof holes, easier entrance/exit, & more wildflowers! You have access to everything except two small closets our family keeps our own clothes in. (Because we draw the line at sharing clothes!) There’s lots of Airbnbs that are full time rentals with empty closets and perfect decor, but this truly is a family home we’re welcoming you into, with all the old photos, full cabinets, and cozy warmth of a real home. So please relax as our guest and enjoy our peaceful family retreat. Please know that, due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We’re a phone call and a short drive away, and are happy to meet you if you like. Otherwise we’ll let you enjoy the solitude. The neighbors across the street are very nice, if you want to chat with some locals. Very close (5-15 min drive) to Ceder Creek Lake, Gun Barrel City, and Seven Points. You’ll need to drive out along some country roads to get here. We have a gravel road on the land that goes all the way to the cottage. Please don’t drive on the fields, for your own sake and ours. There’s a very high likelihood of getting stuck, even in a 4 wheel drive vehicle in one of the many hard to see boggy zones. This is not a good place for 4 wheelers or off-roading. Perfect for walking. We have a series of walking paths and picnic zones mowed for you to enjoy. The tiny house cottage is new and sealed up tight, but a rogue spider or moth might sometimes get in. This is the country! The house is stocked with bug spray, sunscreen, and every first aid item imaginable since we regularly stay here ourselves. But please bring boots, rain boots, rain jacket, pants...everything needed for walking through fields and woods if you want that to be part of your stay. Please visit knowing that the natural world gives us not only gorgeous wildflowers and sunsets but also includes coyotes, deer, snakes, ticks, hawks, poison ivy, etc. which is no problem if you plan ahead, use common sense, and take a hot shower at the end of the day. Please keep the main front gate to the road fully closed and locked during your stay. Recent update: Cows have left the property and the electric fence is now gone.
