Spacious, Historic Parlor & Bath- ideal location!

Settle into this large, comfortable Parlor room with private bath, in our historic 1905 home. We are a few blocks north of the fantastic downtown area of Iowa City and the university campus- everything is walkable and you'll love the charm of our original brick-paved street. Free parking on our driveway behind the home. We have loads of coffee and tea to share, and the entire home gets beautiful sunlight from every angle. Come stay a while! Our home is a historic, Colonial Revival (for the architecture buffs!) just a few minutes walk to downtown Iowa City and the UI campus. The Parlor is on the main floor of our home, with one entry off the mantel room and the other entry leading out to the front foyer. One bed is a pillow-topped, full sized mattress that can sleep 1-2 guests, and the blue pull-out loveseat can comfortably sleep one other. The bathroom is newly renovated with small details that honor the 1905 architecture. Guests have access to a large armoire adjacent to the room for any clothing that needs to be hung. We trust you'll enjoy it! The majority of the main floor is available to our Parlor guests! In addition to your space, guests are free to enjoy the kitchen, the living room, the mantel room, and the front porch! If you'd like to have a tour of the entire home, let us know and we will happily walk you around. We love hosting and meeting our guests. You are very likely going to have a new best friend in the form of our dog- so we ask guests to keep their room doors closed in order to protect the space from a stowaway pup. :) The neighborhood is known as the Northside neighborhood, full of beautiful, historic homes. Walking 3 blocks south will get you to a selection of local favorites- restaurants, a great coffee shop, and several other businesses- Mercy Hospital, John's Grocer, the Haunted Bookshop among them. We love our location and know you will too! We truly love hosting in all forms. Depending on the day, we might be hosting a friend for dinner, or another guest in our second floor guest room. This is a very large home with plenty of space to share. Let us know if you are looking for a long-term arrangement; we are very open to semester stays or longer as needed. Be aware that we start our days fairly early (usually 6-7am) and you may hear us moving around. As of June 2020, we have completed training for increased cleanliness measures related to COVID-19 and keeping our home and community safe. This commitment is reflected in our cleaning fees.
