The Indiana Dunes National Park and beaches are minutes away by car. Well behaved Dogs stay FREE. (Sorry, no kittys due to allergies.) There is a seating area with a smart TV next to the studio area. Your private stay benefits the next door garden which you also have access to. (Website hidden by Airbnb) In October of 2019 I began renovations on this once abandoned house for use as an artist studio. Though located on a residential street it feels rural and secluded. In the spring of 2020, the exterior was decoratively painted and covered with SPARKLES. One of the rooms stores art supplies and has a table and wireless printer. The living/dining rooms have been combined to form a classroom art studio which you may use at your leisure. There is a full kitchen, bathroom, front porch and deck in addition to two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. The basement houses a private soap-making studio where two women artists occasionally alt work during the day. They have a separate entrance with separate locks and do not stay over night. The nearby trains are LOUD and run day and night with horns lasting 5-10 seconds. You will find earplugs in the medicine cabinet. Otherwise, I like them as they bring back an old-timey feel. Profits from the rental benefit the development of a sculpture garden next door where guests are welcome. You will most likely see me working out there. You'll have access to the entire main floor, outside front deck, back yard and garden next door. My husband and I live 5 minutes away and will be available if you need anything. You may see us working in the garden or mowing the lawn during your visit. The basement art studio is private with its own side entrance and lock. There may be a couple artists coming and going during the day hours but noise is minimal. No one stays there overnight. Miller Beach is a neighborhood within Gary, IN, which has a rich history as a Steel Mill town. Though it has suffered economically over the past several decades, the people here are working hard to turn it around. We moved to Miller six years ago from Chicgao because it's beautiful and diverse in ethnicity, religion, politics and gender identification. We are proud to live in a community that treasures individual freedom. We are steel workers, artists, political activists and beach-lovers. We welcome you to our eclectic little community. The South Shore Train is only 1 block away and It’s easy to take a trip into Chicago. Take the South Shore Train from Miller to Millennium Park. It takes 75 min. (45 min by car) and a ticket (at this time) is $7.50 one way. Download the orange icon ‘south shore line’ app to review the schedule and to buy tickets - or visit online (Website hidden by Airbnb) The train station is at the corner of Lake Street and hwy 12. Lake Street has shops and restaurants. Shelby street has a couple restaurants. The house is located between TWO train tracks so you will hear trains. We find it kind of nice - Like a throw back to the old days. But honestly, they are LOUD. You may hear a train at 3 am. Earplugs are by the beds:)
