Appalachian Trail, Harper's Ferry, C&O bike bath, Catoctin Nature Center, Greenbrier Lake, Rivers, galleries, shops, antiques, and restaurants of Frederick, and more are within 15-20 minutes of the farm. Location, location! Fox House sits at the head of a beautiful organic farm with woodlands, fields, and creeks. Appalachian Trail, Harper's Ferry, Catoctin Nature Center, and the C&O canal towpath for biking are all within a 15 minute drive. The small town of Jefferson offers some of the best homemade pastries around, and Hemps is a full service butcher shop selling only local meats. The charming city of Frederick, with shops, galleries, antiques, and divine restaurants, free concerts on the green is also within a 15 minute drive. Wineries, cideries, and distilleries are within a 10-30 minute drive. Rural, town, and rivers = perfect getaway. We teach classes on a variety of topics related to gardening, conservation, wild food foraging, herbs for wellness, and more. You are welcome to register for one during your stay. We offer garden tours and tea tastings, nature walks and beekeeping 101 with a honey tasting to groups of at least 8. This is dependent upon staff availability. We have 2 other farm houses and a restored Dairy Parlor available for larger retreats. Your stay supports farm programs that we offer children and adults from low income communities, people suffering with PTSD, and other life challenges. The house is entirely yours to enjoy. There are trails on the farm and a beautiful gravel road where Catoctin and Lewis creeks flow where you can walk/bike. Strolls along the gravel road along the Catoctin creek, birding, and just relaxing away from electronic and work distractions are what folks enjoy most about Fox Haven Organic Farm. We are available when needed. Beautiful and safe, with friendly neighbors. The small town of Jefferson has a homemade pastry shop, Hemp's Meats butcher shop, Little Red Barn Cafe & Ice Cream, Watson's Chicken Carry-out, Jefferson Diner, Gas station, and small town grocer. Frederick city has art galleries, antiques, restaurants, shops, a fun music scene, minor league baseball team, and beautiful parks. Brunswick town has C&O towpath for walking and biking, the potomac river access for boating and fishing, and Beans in the Belfry for tasty food and fun music performances. Plenty of wineries, distilleries, and cideries abound. There is no public transportation, but you can order cabs, Uber, or Lyft. You can take the train to Frederick or Brunswick from Washington D.C. and then take a cab to the farm. There is a ping pong table in the basement, some games, a fire ring, and a small outdoor sauna for your use. Guests are welcome to join in any programs that are happening on the farm during your stay - wild food walks, garden talks, cooking classes, yoga, bird walks.
