This spacious 1BR apartment is situated on the entire top floor of this recently renovated 1938 home. It looks out across a canyon and tree covered neighbourhoods, and would seem to encapsulate - at the risk of sounding a tad trite "city living with a country atmosphere". Should you arrive by car, parking is available is available in front of the house. From here - and using the photos as a guide - guests enter the house via the main - and private entrance - on the right hand side of the house. A staircase to the right leads to the top floor. Once at the top of the stairs, the french doors on your right open onto a tiled deck that looks out over an extensively landscaped back yard to a heavily wooded canyon. It has a large umbrella for summer shade and a small fireplace for winter warmth. It is the ideal place to hang out and watch vivid fall sunsets or enjoy an "adult" beverage on chilly San Diego winter nights! Returning to the top of the stairs and down the hallway immediately ahead in the hallway is the bedroom, furnished with a carpeted floor and - courtesy of the beautiful and talented people of Oaxaca colourful woolen rugs. It also contains a closet, love seat and arm chair, a gas fireplace for winter, and mechanized drapes which completely enclose the room and guarantee a quiet and cosy atmosphere. For our increasingly frequent "global warming" days in summer when the heat and/or humidity are a little too much, there is a fan and a room air conditioner with which to manage the heat and/or humidity. The hallway Ieads to an elegant tiled stone floor bathroom (233 with a jacuzzi tub, separate shower recess, and twin vanity stands with marble tops. Turning right at the end of the bathroom, you will see a new addition - a full kitchen with the usual amenities: stove, refrigerator, microwave, and a sink. An electric kettle and a french press are available which which to make coffee and tea. Retracing your steps back downstairs to the front of the house, there is a private walkway on your left which leads to the back yard. Feel free to wander down in the early am or late afternoon and pick a space in which to relax - a swing for 2 or 3 under the trees or a chaise longue. A B-B-Q is available for your use, as is the wood-burning outdoor fireplace for those chilly coastal desert winter nights we have here in Mediterranean "Diego". The property is located to the east of the city in the residential neighborhood of El Cerrito. A 15-20 minute walk will take you to San Diego State University and the last stop on the red trolley line to the city. From here, downtown SD is 20 minutes away, with a stop to hop off and shop in Mission Valley, or continue on to the border. Tijuana in 20 minutes from the downtown, and you'll need a passport to return. You may also be asked for your passport when you enter. A bus route to the city center and the rest of the County is 5 blocks away at El Cajon Boulevard, and El Cerrito is within easy access of major freeways 8 and 15 and major tourist attractions. A mile from 4770 along El Cajon Boulevard at College Avenue there is a major shopping center with a grocery store and a variety of restaurants - Thai and Vietnamese - as well as fast food outlets such as Smashburger is less than a mile away. On the way there, you will pass our first class neighborhood restaurant and well-stocked wine bar "Bistro 60" - owned and operated by a local chef Mark and his partner, Arturo. Menus are available on their web site, as are details of the live music offerings during the week. If you venture further on El Cajon Boulevard to 72 nd St, Terra is a farm to table restaurant, with menu that caters to vegans and carnivors alike. It is reasonably priced and the service is excellent.
