WE HAVE TAKEN EXTRA CARE TO CLEAN AND DISINFECT OUR HOUSE IN LIGHT OF THE COVID-19 CRISIS. WHILE WE CAN'T GUARANTEE OUR HOUSE IS VIRUS-FREE, WE HAVE DISINFECTED EVERYTHING WE COULD THINK OF. Our farmhouse - affectionately dubbed "The Red House" by our children - dates back to (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Surrounded by open farm land offering beautiful country views, our home offers the perfect getaway in any season. Find us on (Hidden by Airbnb) @theredhousepa Lovingly restored in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , our farmhouse provides all the updated necessities while maintaining charming details of the past. Our kitchen boasts a beautiful Pittston stove from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , and the attached barn provides a glimpse of when it was used to house hay for chickens and horses. Enjoy our porch while swinging on our porch swing, or find a spot on our property to sit and watch the sunset. There is a full-size bed in the downstairs bedroom, two twin beds upstairs, and a full-size bed in the master bedroom which is also upstairs. If two extra people should visit, our living room sofa opens up to a queen-size bed. Lots of windows provide a bright and sunny indoor experience. We enjoy getting cozy with a book or taking a long walk down the local country roads. We offer WIFI but it can be slow and sometimes wonky. However, since many people need to work remotely during the COVID-19 crisis, we tested out our wifi to see if it could handle Zoom and the good news is that it can! I don't normally have the need to work while here, but recently - due to the pandemic - I have had to join several meetings on Zoom and I am pleased to report that it worked beautifully. I placed myself in our dining room, at our large dining room table, and never experienced any difficulties. We would not recommend that more than one person Zoom at a time, and we also suggest that all other devices be disconnected from Wifi while Zooming just to be sure the connection is unencumbered. Cell phone service can sometimes be frustrating but phones do work for the most part. The bottom line: if you have a heavy, persistent need for high-speed internet technology, you might be frustrated. But if your tech needs are lighter, we think you will be satisfied. Another option is our local library which is only 8 minutes away by car, located right in town. It's a good place to get away and do some work with their wifi (no zoom calls, as they maintain quiet in the space). You can find tables and comfy chairs on their second floor. We provide a dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer for your use. We have a TV in the living room, but no cable -- this is a Smart TV so you can easily log in to your Netflix, Prime, and Hulu accounts to watch movies and shows using our wifi. We provide towels (bath towels and hand towels) and pillows, linens, and blankets. We also provide dish towels and bath mats. We have 2 AIR CONDITIONER units (installed in the summer). One is in the downstairs bedroom window, and the other is in the window of the upstairs landing. We almost never have to use these A/C units BUT in the event of a heatwave, they help cool the house. We welcome constant communication so that we can be assured your stay is wonderful. The Honesdale area is chock full of nothing to do...or lots to do, depending on your mood! In town, check out Main Street and visit Maude Alley for some great, small, local shopping and eating. International Yoga has opened on Main Street, and there is a variety of other great shops. The Cooperage offers live music and lots of different activities. There is also a farmers' market on Saturdays in the spring and summer, next to the supermarket which is just outside of the Main Street area. If you venture further out, you can hike, boat, antique, and more. We are not far from Lake Wallenpaupack and Sullivan County in New York State, which is just across the Delaware River. There is a bus that pulls right up to Honesdale, on Main Street, from Port Authority in New York City. Traveling by car is easy, too. We will provide directions, though any GPS will do. You can park on our driveway. We are native New Yorkers who chose the Honesdale area as the perfect place to get away, and we love it. I am a theatre teacher and my husband, Scott, is a photographer. We have twins who enjoy our country retreat as much as we do. The Red House is no longer set up for babies, but the easy, flowing floor plan is very kid friendly. Or let them run around our 3 acres of open property. It's a child's paradise, in any season.
