Brentwood Artist Farmhouse

Welcome to my home. Surrounded by century-old trees, decorated with a mixture of styles such as Belgian, Provencal, Japanese, Shaker, French Industrial, 60’s Design, English Traditional and Artist’s Loft, this unexpected 'resort-like' farmhouse is located in the heart of Brentwood (Los Angeles) just minutes away from Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Bel Air, and Westwood ... not to mention 'Brentwood Village' where you will find charming shops and restaurants! The house is located less than 5 miles from the beach, the heart of UCLA, Royce Hall, The Broad Stage Performing Arts Center, Temescal Gateway Park, Will Rogers State Historic Park and Polo Field, etc. From swimming in the large pool to playing Petanque in the back yard, from biking or hiking in the canyons to visiting the neighbor’s horses, this property is made for cozy dinners and playing games with friends and family (some games include Uno, Chinese Checkers, Backgammon, Go, Taboo, Balderdash, Puzzles, Cards, and a few more). There are 8 sets of Petanque boules for you to use, as well as a few tennis rackets and tons of tennis ball (there are multiple free-access tennis courts around the city). For the active types and professional athletes, you are minutes away from The Brentwood Country Club (Exclusive Golf Club), The Riviera Country Club (one of LA's oldest and most exclusive private golf/tennis club), Will Rogers Park (Polo brunch anyone?), and Mandeville Canyon Road which is LA's premier destination for bikers training for 'The Tour de France'. There is one folding Graco crib/play cot w/ sheets and two high chairs including two seat boosters for the outside. POOL HEATING: The pool is only heated May 1 through September 1. Otherwise, the water is too coll and will not be heated unless specifically requested. If you would like the pool to be heated between October 1 - June 1 there is a $100 per day pool heating fee (10 days minimum). Why is it so expensive? When heating the pool in the cooler months, our bills reach up to $2600 a month in gas and electricity combined ... that's a lot of resources! And the pool takes 10 days to heat properly. We cannot absorb those fees. If you want to hire a chef, a house keeper, a personal trainer or ... , a notebook of domestic staff agencies has been created for your convenience. FYI - Murphy's Law - Very often I get similar inquiries for bookings on similar dates: I don't hold reservations - so I will go with the first one who officially books the house. If you are serious and like the house - don't wait too long ... Whether you are a photographer, a chef, a musician, an artist, an author, an architect, a designer, a film person, a stylist, an entrepreneur, a businessman, a family … this house – full of charm and “esprit” - will feed your inspiration. You’ll never want to leave. Except for a very rare and occasional use of bleach, the house uses only non-toxic, eco-friendly and biodegradable cleaning products, as well as recycled paper products. Almost all the bath towels are organic. And that goes for the garden as well. The only pesticides we use are ladybugs and snail-eating snails. A whole-house water filter makes the water feel and taste delicious from any faucet. Therapeutic essential oils are diffused in the house on a regular basis to keep the air clean. We use essential oils that are highly antiviral, antiseptic, anti-fungus, antibacterial, anti-infectious and so forth such as Eucalyptus and Thieves ... Remote controls, phones, light switches, and doorknobs are cleaned w/ alcohol after each individual stay. We also use a UV light wand (as used by hospitals and hotels). We invite you to Google the benefits of using UV Lights as an additional cleaning tool. There is a professional massage table (and special sheets), two exercise balls, a vibrational machine, and a few other gadgets at your disposal ... (upon request). There is wireless internet in the whole house, but if you prefer, it can be unplugged and there is a DSL cable in every room. There is a signal booster inside the house - but to be honest, cell phone signals are limited ... our provider is Spectrum, so maybe get a Spectrum temporary/travel geared signal enhancer while you are here? Internet is powerful so if you enable WiFi phone calling, there should be no issues. We also have a landline with unlimited calling within the US. There is a 32' Television in the living room ONLY, a multi-zone DVD player, 125 TV channels, APPLE TV where you can connect to your personal accounts (Netflix, Hulu, etc ...) The 125 channels need to be requested ahead of the booking and we can add Hulu & Netflix & others if you like too). 1 BBQ available for your convenience. You'll just have to buy the charcoal ... (please do not use chemical fluids) And more surprises ... And don't forget to use my GUIDEBOOK! I've listed some of my favorite places in Los Angeles (and the list is growing!). Feedback welcome! There is complimentary house keeping on Mondays. Garden & Pool maintenance is on Mondays & Thursdays. Guest access I will welcome you upon your arrival, hand you the keys, give you a quick tour and answer any questions or concerns you might have. Interaction with guests I will welcome you in person and we will do the walk-through together. During your stay, you can call me, email me or text me with any questions you might have during your stay. FOR BABIES & TODDLERS: There is a folding crib / play cot (GRACO Pack'n'Play + ...), 2 booster seats for the outside and 2 high chairs in the dining room. There are also 2 wood/mesh adjustable gates to block access to the pool or to another room. NO PETS please. We love them, but they are not allowed inside the house.
