Quiet Guest Suite 'Felsengarten' near Frederick

We offer a guest suite on the lower level of our house, with private entry, 10 minutes from historic Frederick. The suite's access is from a terrace, overlooking a wooded hillside, with a fire pit, grill, table & chairs. The suite has a bedroom, bath, laundry, and a family room with a fireplace. The suite includes a mini-fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, and dining area. Nearby attractions include several state parks, the Appalachian Trail, and wineries in the Middletown valley. The suite is located in a ground floor walkout, with full west-facing windows, and a private entrance, below the main level of the house. We live on the upper level with separate access. The guest suite has its own climate control. You'll enjoy our terrace and fire pit, hammock, grill, and seating for a small group with a view of the sunsets over South Mountain. The laundry provides washer and dryer and a commercial kitchen sink for our guests' use. Our property is about an acre and the yard areas are bounded by woods on three sides. Our landscaping is generally rustic, but in the spring you might be lucky enough to share in the blooming of the azaleas, snowdrops, or bluebells! For our summer guests, we provide several fans. Although we do not have air conditioning in the guest suite, it is very rarely necessary in our location on Braddock Mountain. Please note that for health and environmental reasons we do not use pesticides within or outside of the house. We are happy to provide citronella candles for use on the terraces and citronella bug spray. Our guests have access to the guest suite and the backyard terrace. Much of the rest of the property is wooded; children should be supervised closely. Access to the laundry is shared with the owner. We will try to welcome you when you arrive and give you any information about our area. We have lived in the area for 30 years and can point you towards great restaurants, hiking and biking trails, wineries, and more! We live on the main floor of the house with our two cats. The latter are excluded from the guest suite, but are outside on the terrace occasionally. If we cannot be here, we will arrange access for you and provide necessary information for self check-in. We live in a semi-rural residential area about 10 minutes drive from downtown Frederick and less than 5 minutes from Interstate 70. Our county road has no sidewalks, but has wide enough shoulders for strolling. In addition to historic Frederick,nearby attractions include four state parks within a 20-25 minute drive, plus the Appalachian Trail, Harper's Ferry, the C&O Canal, Antietam, etc. We provide a detailed guide for our guests of recommended restaurants and places to visit in the area. You need a car, or arranged transportation. There is no public transit in our area. Uber and Lyft are available in the area. A designated parking space is available for our guests. The suite is not handicap accessible; there are a dozen steps on the side of the house down to the terrace level and the entrance to the guest suite.
