Old Farmhouse in the City
This 100+ year-old house has character. It has been filled with love, music and lots of good people. On the edge of the city (of Detroit), in a little corner within walking distance from Grosse Pointe Farms, stores, post office & hospital. 15-minute walk to Lake St Clair. Large kitchen! I might agree to allow one dog, for $10 extra per night. But you must clear that with me first. Feel free to use the (big)kitchen along with staples (cooking oil, spices, sugar, etc). Provide your own food. Store it in my refrigerator and cupboard. Feel free to use the porch, back yard, and living room. Sheets, blankets, pillows, towels provided. Ample parking. Sometimes I'm busy or tired and don't interact much. Sometimes I have time, and am happy to share a meal or coffee, or even take guests to my favorite places. Ample parking on street and/or in my driveway. Unfortunately there is very little public transportation in Detroit. Our bus system is difficult to depend on. You're better off renting a car or looking into Uber or Lyft. Taxis are very expensive. When I have time I'm happy to help with rides (I'll charge you less than a taxi). Detroit is an interesting mix of creativity, resilience, poverty, struggle, grit, and good people just trying to live a decent life. We have a complicated history. Nothing is simple.
