This home comfortably sleeps 5 adults and up to 8 if 2 persons share the full bed and 2 use the quality self-inflating air mattress (queen-size). There are 3 bedrooms: a large master suite with king-size bed & full bathroom (shower in tub) and an average-size bedroom with 2 twin beds (both bedrooms have bay windows with stunning views); the third bedroom is smaller (cozy yet cheerful!), on the other side of the house, with a full-size bed. Also a centrally located, second full bathroom (shower stall). Brand-new solid oak floors throughout, central HVAC, kitchen with granite countertops & central island, quartz vanity tops, X-large washer & dryer, quality rugs/ furniture/ decor, and more. Numerous bay windows and patio doors invite sunlight and nature inside each room, making this home a quality retreat. Private amenities include: - Self-check-in and self-check-out with keyless door (keypad access code) - Wireless internet (100 megs download) - 55” Roku TV with access to a Netflix account; guests may also access personal accounts- but we do not offer cable TV, as most people opt for show & movie services instead. - Seasonal outdoor in-ground and fenced in swimming pool with lounge chairs (summer only, not heated) - Stone patios with eating & sitting areas - Gas grill - Fire pit - 2-car garage - Desk in front-room for office work - Several sitting areas with exquisite views - Antique dining table with 2 optional extensions - Renovated & fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, 2 stoves, coffee machine, plus additional special equipment (crockpot, juicer, mixer, fondue set, etc.) - Obstacle Course (Ninja Warrior) and Zip Line for children: under adult supervision only, and bring a helmet for any child who intends to use the zip line. Susan's family is from the area but they lived in Europe for decades; she is a retired biologist and a professional translator; she is also fluent in French, speaks some Italian and can understand a lot of Spanish. I am a retired addiction-specialized psychologist & interventionist; I practice energy-pathway work with a unique approach developed over decades of experience (following intense Shiatsu training with an Indian Master); my mother tongue is German. We happily welcome guests and help in any way we can when we are at home, but privacy at our Airbnb is respected. Each living quarter is completely separate from the others and meeting any of us is normally at the discretion of our guests. Woodstock, CT is a rural community with several active farms; its countryside, forestry, lakes, and parks are peaceful and well maintained. The town offers an antique shop, a few diners-cafés-restaurants, historical landmarks, and is the home to the famous "Woodstock Fair". Many attractions and events are within easy driving distance; some of our favorites are: "Artist Open Studios", "Walktobers", "Old Sturbridge Village", "Brimfield Antique & Collectibles Show", "Webster Lake" with its 'Indian Ranch' offering boat rides and outdoor concerts, "First Fridays in Putnam", etc. Cities: 35 minutes to Worcester, MA; 50-60 minutes to Hartford, CT or Providence, RI or Springfield, MA; 75-90 minutes to Boston or Cambridge or Amherst, MA Education: many schools, colleges & universities within 10-45 mins Sports: 10-25 mins to golf courses; 20 mins to Webster Lake (public beach, boat launching access) or to Thompson Raceway; 10-40 mins to local or state parks; 1hr to ski slopes Other noteworthy attractions: 15-30 mins to Wineries; 1hr to casinos; 60-90 mins to boat rides on the CT river; 90 mins to Berkshires (Tanglewood) etc. - A 1-bedroom apartment on the lower floor, under Cedar Ridge, will also soon be available to rent via Airbnb. Parking areas, paths to doorway and entry doors are totally independent one from the other. - Longterm rental is available: the property is ideal for visiting professionals (professors, university staff, travel nurses, company experts, etc.), boarding school parents, and anyone in need of extended stays. Please contact us if you are interested in a long-term rental. - Our driveway consists of a long path covered with milled asphalt and going up the hill; it splits into 2 separate paths and there are clear signs toward each residence, so please make sure to follow signs to #39 Cedar Ridge. In case of ice or snow, we recommend that you drive around the pond: instead of taking a left at the first signs, continue straight, then around the pond, and take a left at the second set of signs.
