Welcome to the Log Cabin - a unique cozy space in our lovely 1940s home! The original owner was a woodworker & created this room with his own hands. Furnished with vintage pieces to evoke another time; a perfect retreat. We are in a beautiful & safe neighborhood 5 minutes from Grosse Pointe. St John's & Beaumont Hospitals are minutes away. ***We have always and will continue to wipe down all surfaces, door knobs, railings, etc with diluted bleach solution before every reservation. *** Your unit includes a large bedroom/living area, full kitchen, and a full bath with a walk-in shower. Supplies for making coffee & tea are provided. The bedroom (AKA The Log Cabin Room) is furnished with a wrought iron framed Sleep Number queen-sized bed with a memory foam topper, a variety of hypoallergenic pillows, a comfy stuffed chair, a convertible desk, and a lovely mosaic table & chairs. A vintage cedar chest is stocked extra linens and such. There are plenty of drawers for your things and a free standing clothes rack for hanging clothes. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials for cooking. Organic coffee & a variety of teas are provided and a refillable pitcher of filtered water will be waiting for you in the refrigerator. The soaps, conditioner, shampoo provided is all sulfate and paraben free. Free use of the washer & dryer and supplies are included. ***Note that we may need occasional access to our pantry, workshop and laundry and will coordinate with you so that we use when you are out for the day. We live & work upstairs and you will likely hear us a bit between 8 a.m.-11 pm. If you are looking for a space to sleep or to work from during the day this is probably not the best fit.*** As travelers ourselves, we understand that it is the little details that can make or break a stay and our goal is for you to feel like an honored guest in our home. There is a 42 inch TV with Roku for your enjoyment. The space is also equipped with emergency supplies (first aid, flashlight, candles/matches, and fire extinguisher) as well as things to clean up an inadvertent spill. A space heater and fan are available for your use. You are welcome to hang out in the yard. Weather permitting, there is a table and chairs for your use. During gardening season, help yourself to tomatoes or other veggies. Usually we meet our guests and walk them through the unit. During this time, we will only do self-checkins, and as always will be available via phone or text if you have questions. You may hear us from time to time as we move around upstairs, and we have taken measures to mitigate sound transfer. We are both are easily accessible by phone or text to answer questions, give advice , recommendations or address concerns. East English Village (or as the locals call it - EEV) is on the east side of Detroit and considered by many one of the best neighborhoods in Detroit due to its diversity, community engagement and beautiful properties. We are 5 minutes from Ascension St. John Hospital and 8 minutes from Beaumont Hospital. We are minutes from Grosse Pointe - which is where you will find a Trader Joes, Krogers, and a variety of restaurants and shops. Highway 94, one of the main thoroughfares into Downtown is just a few blocks away (far enough that we don't get the noise, but close enough that everything feels so close!). We've found that we're about a 15-minute drive from most anything we want to do in Detroit! Please read before booking: ++We live upstairs on the floor above the basement and we have hardwood floors, so you may hear us from time to time until we settle down for the night in our attic bedroom. ++We control the central heat and A/C from our level. Being a basement, the environment of the unit is relatively temperate. And, we have a fan and heater on hand for your use as desired. If we need to tweak the temperature, just shoot us a text.
