This off-grid, two bedroom log cabin has a private hiking trail along the top of the Deacon Escarpment leading to your stunning view of Golden Lake. Enjoy exploring, hiking, and canoeing; after your day in nature you can relax in the cabin's comforts:propane fireplace, fridge/freezer, kitchenware, stove with oven, washroom with composting toilet and vanity with cold running water. Bedrooms each have single over double bunks. The parking area is 600m(3 season), 1.7km in the winter, Free shuttle! This cabin is completely off-grid for a light footprint camping experience with minimal impact to the escarpment environment! ☆Features of this off-grid cabin include: -solar fridge/freezer, propane stove and fireplace; propane heater in Bedroom 1. -composting toilet -interior and exterior solar lighting -seasonal cold, running water -seasonal solar shower, which you may have to boil water for if there is NO SUN that day, or pack body wipes -USB charging area **NO plug-ins for electrical appliances There is a private deck view of the Bonnechere Valley. The forest and ponds of the escarpment provide wildlife viewing year round especially in the winter for the whitetail deer migration. Don't forget your camera! ☆Other Items at the Cabin: -4 indoor/outdoor folding chairs -screened gazebo -picnic table -bbq with propane & utensils - fully equipped kitchen, also coffee purcolater and filters, oil, salt and pepper, foil -50 gallons well water, not tested -cleaning supplies -small first aid kit ☆Items to pack: -Bedding, including sheets and pillows~unless purchasing the Couple's or Bedding Packages -seasonal hiking footwear; trails have muddy areas. -Body wipes (for those not wanting to shower outside in cooler temperatures)! -Light coloured, long sleeve shirt and pants and/or insect repellent (June & July are peek bug months) -extra drinking water and back pack -flashlights The cabin is at its own private location on the property. Campers enjoy access to a escarpment picnic area which is breathtaking for autumn leaf viewing, as well as marked hiking/snowshoeing trails including a trail that leads to a small lake with canoes reserved for cabin quests! Bring a field guide along on a hike to help you identify plants and wildlife--available in your cabin. Available to rent: snowshoes, ice hut. There is excellent cell service. Our phone number is in the cabin and we are available to call or text with questions at any time. A Side-by-Side shuttle is available for free for you and your gear, or maybe for just your gear if you would rather begin your stay with a 10 min.(30 min in the winter) invigorating and scenic hike to your cabin! Trail maps are also located at the parking area. Your cabin location was selected to give you a private place to enjoy nature. There is no other cabin or campsite within 250 m of you. The rural towns of Golden Lake, Killaloe and Barry's Bay and Pikwakanagan First Nation are all within a close drive. Enjoy water recreation on Golden Lake at a public access picnic and beach area 5 minutes down the road in Deacon. Visit Renfrew County attractions and events: Bonnechere Caves, white water rafting, Algonquin Provincial Park, museums, golf courses, pow-wows, trap line tours and more! We provide a detailed list of other attractions and local amenities in your cabin. If you wish to visit local attractions, events or restaurants you will need to travel by car as no public transportation is available. Our forested NATURE TRAILS are mostly rugged with seasonal wet areas. The escarpment including this cabin area has steep drops in places; please exercise caution. Well-behaved PETS are welcome!
