Akey Valley , LLC. is a vacation rental home located in scenic Richland County in southwest Wisconsin. The 140+ year old farmhouse has over is 4,000 square feet to enjoy. The home is fully furnished and sleeps 12 comfortably with six bedrooms (five bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom on the main level): three queen beds, two full beds and two twin beds and plenty of space available for air mattresses. Make yourself at home for the week or weekend. Akey Valley is a family affair, not part of a property management company, resort or hotel chain looking to make tons of money off our rental. Eric & Amy do the day to day management the property. Amy's sister & brother-in-law own the farm. Eric's dad mows the lawn. Amy's mom does the laundry. Akey Valley is a working farm. The cows in the barn and the tractors being used belong to Amy’s parents. At Akey Valley, we want people to experience & enjoy their time in the country. The Akey Valley farmhouse is over 140+ years old. We offer great accommodations but please know it is NOT new construction. The main floor has central air but there is no AC (for summer) or heating (for winter) to the upstairs. For the summer, we have box fans in every room with large windows. In the fall, we have big comforters to keep cozy. We close the farmhouse for the winter. The home includes a living room, dining room, sitting room, and two bathrooms both on the main level - there is NO bathroom upstairs. The large fully equipped kitchen was remodeled in 2012. It has a wall oven, electronic cook top, oversized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and other small appliances like waffle maker, toaster, popcorn maker, blender and a tabletop George Forman grill. All cooking utensils, silverware and dishware are included. Guests will need to bring in and prepare their own food. All bed linens and towels are provided. The house also includes a 26x26 great room addition that’s perfect for gatherings or activities with a larger group! We installed Wi-Fi at the house in October 2014. It has worked well for guests but know it's not super fast (we would not advise streaming movies). Some things we DO NOT have: cable or dish (we do have one smart TV with local channels). Cell phone service is spotty due to the valley and hills. We have a landline for emergencies and the number can be passed along to family if needed. We hope our guests enjoy the beautiful scenery of the country and have a time to set back, relax and truly get away. Please note: 3-night minimum is required for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and when July 4th falls on a Friday or Saturday. Eric and Amy do not live on the property but Amy's parents, Bill and Marilynn, will stop in from time to time. Bill has turned into the unofficial welcome wagon! He'll stop by to say hello and make sure you've got what you need. Since it is a working farm, for your safety do not cross any fences, go into buildings, or into the pasture. Stay on your side of the fence as we like to say on the farm. There's plenty of yard to enjoy, along with a fire pit and front porch. Travel time (ish): Madison 60 minutes, La Crosse 90 minutes, Chicago 3 hours and 30 minutes, Twin Cities 4 hours, Rochester, MN 3 hours and Wisconsin Dells 60 minutes. As kids, we dreamed about getting out of "the country" and moving to the big city. As we grow older, we realize how lucky we are to have grown up in such a beautiful area of Wisconsin. We invite others to enjoy the scenic landscape and driftless area. Please note: 3 night minimum is required for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
