The Cottage by the Lake: Hudson Valley Indulgence

We welcome guests seeking to get away and be with nature during the current pandemic. We observe all CDC guidelines for infection control. It’s the ideal place for those seeking to work from home. The Cottage by the Lake is a cozy, secret get-away on the scenic banks of the Croton Watershed. About an hour from NYC, it’s on the property of an 1850 farmhouse & has a fully equipped kitchen & bath, cathedral ceiling, working fireplace & cozy sleeping loft. The patio has a fire pit and gas bbq. The Cottage by the Lake features a cozy and comfortable sleeping loft for two. The main floor sofa opens into a full-size bed for a 3rd /4th guest. The private patio offers tranquil views of the lake, fire pit and gas bbq grill, the perfect place to unwind with your favorite beverage. The house-made specialty breakfast is included in the price of each Friday & Saturday night's stay and available for an additional cost Sunday thru Thursday -- $16 per day for each adult, $10/day for each child. The scenic beauty of the lakeside views are breathtaking in every season. Enjoy a relaxing stroll through our vegetable garden. Amble or jog along Maple Road, which hugs the lake for over 2 miles. On chilly days, warm yourself by the functioning wood-burning stove. There is firewood available. Skewers and the makings of S’mores are provided. The patio offers comfortable Adirondack chairs and a gas fueled bbq grill. The Cottage by the Lake welcomes dogs on a case-by-case basis, but never more than two dogs for any reservation. There is a large fenced-in area around the pool for your friendly canine to run. Scenic Maple Road on which the Cottage is situated is a favorite of dog walkers, joggers and bicycle enthusiasts. Please advise us in advance if you plan to bring your dog. Original watercolor artwork by the owner is on display throughout the Cottage and available for purchase as well as high quality framed reproductions. Bicycles and helmets are available to rent. The Cottage is just a short distance from the entrance to Putnam County’s extensive bike trails. The mineral springs swimming pool is available dependent on season, weather and house rules, which allow guest usage of the pool from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily. For safety, sanitary reasons and integrity of the vinyl liner, pets are not allowed in the pool or pool area. Your hosts live in the house next door and are readily available to attend to your needs, make suggestions or answer questions you may have. The Cottage by the Lake is minutes away from the quaint shops and restaurants of the Towns of Southeast, Brewster, Carmel, Croton Falls, Somers and Purdy's. It gives you access to enjoy the entire low to mid Hudson Valley, including the antique shops and galleries of Cold Springs and Beacon, or the Flea Markets at Stormville and New Milford. Country stores and apple orchards abound. The Cottage by the Lake is situated 10 minutes from the Metro North train station in the center of Brewster, NY and just 4 miles from exit 19 off of I-84 (if arriving from east or west) or exit 10 off of I-684 (if arriving from points south). Guests arriving by MetroNorth have availed themselves of the local taxi services or Uber. Many guests have enjoyed their stays while utilizing Uber to access local restaurants, orchards and other attractions. Washer and dryer facilities are available for a fee for stays of three days or more or on an emergency basis.
