Visit our charming cottage in the Sequoia National Forest. The cottage is close to a sprawling meadow with access to gentle country roads. Enjoy easy hiking and evening walks. Please remember your swimming suit and enjoy the olympic sized pool located at the California Hot Springs Resort. Get away from the constant obligations of todays’ demanding world of technology. We are 3 hours from Los Angeles, 1.5 hours from Bakersfield and 4 hours from the Bay area. Wifi was installed May 27, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Pamela and I have decided to offer our lightly used cottage to guests as of the spring of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Our home is a refuge from everyday distractions, a place to unwind and a 'green' place to be: emotionally, physically and spiritually. Cottage of Green was built from a Canadian cottage blueprint. It is (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) square feet and was built in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) by a talented local contractor to ensure a sunlit space with a radiant and peaceful atmosphere. Our home has clean lines, an airy feel with high ceilings, two bedrooms, two baths, a queen bedroom loft, and young Sequoias, Coastal Redwoods, Cedar and Oak trees on the property, and of course it’s green! Our cottage has ample room, but sits on a small footprint in the Sequoia National Forest. The cottage is on a country road that is peaceful, perfect for morning runs, and quiet mountain walks in the evening. We have a pellet stove which is more environmentally friendly than a fireplace or wood stove (we will provide instruction). There are board games including Chess and a full sized old school Nok - Hockey board ! We have a listed maximum of 4 guests. We may be able to accommodate an additional 2 guests. The California Hot Springs resort is 4 miles from our cottage, offering a swim in an olympic sized pool filled with natural hot springs water, a restaurant, ice cream parlor, darts, pool table and a small general store. If you are so inclined, and in a reflective piece of mind please visit the Vedanta Spiritual and Holistic Retreat for yoga, healing practices, and meditation instruction. Our upstairs bedroom has an excellent sounding electric piano for you piano players ! Treat the instrument with care and respect as it is of professional quality. No food or drink near the keys, just your fingers ! Enjoy the tranquility, but allow time for walks and hikes in nature, swims and exploring. In addition, there is a general store in the community, Seven Oaks Market. They serve breakfast and lunch. If you are looking for organics, stop at Lassen’s Natural Foods in Bakersfield before coming up the mountain. Please note, Wifi was installed May 27, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , please see House Rules for details. Guests are able to enjoy all the rooms of the entire cottage. One closet is marked, 'private' which houses our personal belongings. Pamela and I welcome phones calls at any time. A local handyman is available close by for immediate assistance. Quiet, mountain community with much natural beauty, very friendly people and a much needed calmer pace. You will enjoy your time and leave reinvigorated and refreshed ! In the immediate area there is a general store/restaurant, real estate office, California Hot Springs Resort, Vedanta Spiritual and Holistic Retreat, lots of trails and hikes, quiet walks, bicycle riding trails, horses, friendly mountain people. Native animals to view include; deer, raccoon, beavers, chipmunks, squirrels, coyotes, eagles, hawks, owls, wild native turkey, turtles, frogs, salamanders, lizards and many others. - There is no public transportation. Roads are paved and in excellent shape. Having said that there are endless back country roads to explore and more adventuresome ones with 4 wheel drive or an all wheel drive vehicle. - Lassens (Bakersfield) organic/natural foods, just a few minutes west of Highway 99. Last stop for this kind of food to stock up on. There are also two small general stores in CHS for typical foods. - Fill up with gas in Ducor (Ave 56) as there is no gas in the mountains and no gas in CHS. - No cell phone service in CHS (except a few places higher up the mountain.
