Cozy Private Wooded Retreat in Convenient Location

Welcome to our private retreat. Guests will enjoy privacy, nature, and convenience to everything Portsmouth has to offer. We have a fully functional house including a gas fireplace, full bath, and a loft bedroom. The Wifi has recently been upgraded to allow streaming. We welcome travelers from all walks of life and enjoy sharing our knowledge and Appalachian hospitality. Our property consists of 40+ acres . We also have an abundance of other animals you may encounter during your stay. We encourage you to enjoy our pool, it is shared with my family (husband and daughter). The pool house contains a loft with a queen pillow top mattress and a sectional couch on the ground floor. There is a full bath and kitchen, minus an oven/range. The gas grill is accessible to guests as well. Our pool house is ideal for 2 adults but can accommodate 3 providing someone sleeps on the sectional sofa. We provide towels and linens, pots and pans, basic pantry items, and a limited supply of toiletries. If you forget something and I can accommodate you I will. Please note that we do get some stink bugs especially in the fall and spring. It's a small sacrifice to enjoy the beautiful seclusion. We are life-long residents and proud to welcome you to our home and community. The pool house is a separate dwelling from our home. You will need to park in our driveway, generally in front of the detached garage. Then walk up the stairs and follow the lit path that will guide you to the pool house. If you are arriving after dark and need further instructions please let me know. We are friendly and personable and enjoy a good conversation. Sometimes we are busy with projects or work and cannot spend time with our guests. If you want seclusion and privacy, we understand! Let me know when you book. Our property is located off from the main highway and you will need a car to travel downtown, although we are about 5 minutes from downtown. We have a few restaurants, a pharmacy, a dollar store, and gas stations within walking distance. We are located near several restaurants and only a few minutes from town and central to both hospitals and SSU. We do have Uber available. The wifi signal is generally too weak to stream in the guest house. If you need a stronger wifi signal, you will have access to a room in our home. We have 3 Great Danes that love meeting new people. If you or your traveling companions are afraid of dogs, our gentle giants may be intimidating. Please understand that they are part of our family before booking. The dogs do not have access to the pool house and are never permitted to go inside. The topography in Southern Ohio can't be truly appreciated if you don't have a bird's eye view.
