Fredonia Home with a View

My place is in an historic cottage community and has a beautiful bay view. It's a great location for families visiting college students. Our home is just a few miles from SUNY Fredonia; it takes about 10 minutes to drive there. Our place is in an historic summer cottage community and has a beautiful bay view. We are across the street from the bay beach and just a block from a larger neighborhood sandy beach. We have a variety of beach chairs, floats, 2 kayaks, and beach towels for guests to use. We have a hot tub and firepit, which guests are welcome to use. Guests will love the spacious bedroom with amazing views and large balcony, a living area with sofa, chairs, TV, and large workspace. WiFi is included, as well as Netflix and Hulu. Parent(s) with 1 child are welcome to bring him/her along, and if you are a family of four, please feel free to contact me- I can most likely accommodate you. Amenities include a bathroom reserved for guests. I provide a hairdryer, towels, iron, and any toiletries you may need. I also include a variety of continental breakfast fixings, such as muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, hot cocoa, and coffee/tea. If you let me know your preferences ahead of time, I will try to accommodate you and your family. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, the outdoor space, the neighborhood, the comfy bed, and the light-filled room. My place is good for couples, small families, and solo adventurers. It's also a great location for families visiting college students. Our home is: 2 miles from SUNY Fredonia, 3 miles from Lake Erie State Park, and 3.5 miles from Dunkirk (Chadwick Bay) Harbor. Lilydale is 12 miles (22 min) away and we are 22 miles (36 min) from the Chautauqua Institution. Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA are both about an hour from us, and Niagara Falls is about an hour and a half. Our guest room includes a bedroom with private living room space, as well as a desk area. The guest room also has a private deck. Although it is not an en suite, guests have their own bathroom, which is just a few steps away from the guest bedroom. The hot tub is on the lower back deck in a host space, but guests are welcome to use it. Please just give us a quick heads up. I am almost always available via airbnb message, and am often on site, working from home, these days. We do sometimes have long work days, but will make every effort to greet guests in person whenever possible. We are available for questions by phone or text for any questions that come up. BEACHES There are two beaches that our guests can use; the small bay beach across the street and the larger neighborhood beach on the other side of the point. BAY BEACH Currently (Summer 2020), the bay is very high, and the water is lapping the rocks at the bottom of the stairs. When the water is high like this, we usually sit on the grassy bank above or on the flat rock slabs in our Adirondack chairs or beach chairs. You can wade and swim here, and it’s nice for kayaking because it is usually calmer and shallow for quite a ways out. The bay beach side is where you can see the sunrise - beautiful from the guest balcony especially if the bay is calm. NEIGHBORHOOD BEACH To get to the larger neighborhood beach, just walk around Lakeside Blvd as it curves and goes along the park (1 block), until you get to the Beach Access sign, then turn right down the path to the stairs. We love to put our chairs in one of the coves along the beach to the right of the stairs as they often have shade part of the day and feel a little private. The neighborhood beach side is also where you can see the sunset, and many of our residents make it a daily event. There is no access to public transportation in our neighborhood. We offer parking for one car in our driveway and guests may use our neighborhood overflow parking lot for an additional car. Guests should know that we have two cats, Lia and Boo. They are indoor/outdoor cats and generally come and go as they like. They may come in the guest room to visit, but feel free to shoo them out, or call us to get the, out for you. People with allergies should know that they have access to the room when we do not have guests.
