We draw water from the river but do some extensive water treatment before it comes out of the tap. It may have a slight taste, depending on the time of year & what you're use to at home. • We're located on the Severn River just below Wasdell Falls. We're on the Trent-Severn River System, near lock 42. • Fishing in the area is fantastic & you can even sometimes catch fish right from our shore rocks. • Unfortunately, swimming in the creek is not possible, due to the thick layer of silt from fallen leaves. You can swim in the river beyond (the locals do) but we don't recommend it for guests because even on calm days, there are always some currents. For these reasons, we added a pool: swim in the pool & enjoy the river for everything else. The best of both worlds. • There's a hydro dam further up the river which can randomly generate foam. Usually, it's in the morning, likely generating power for your morning coffee. It's naturally occurring & harmless. Basically, it's what would happen if you put lake water in a blender for a minute. The foam can look like tiny icebergs, which dissipate throughout the day. • There's an official portage point at the hydro dam that gives you direct access to some of the most famous paddling in the province: the Black & Green Rivers. • Water levels change throughout the seasons. In the early spring, one whole level of the yard may be under water but such changes are expected, safely controlled by the dam up the river. And these changes have their advantages. High water means, at certain times of the year, you can explore past the beaver dam on the creek.
