Quiet lakefront getaway! Completely separated cozy guest suite/basement apartment with separate heating & cooling, medical grade HEPA air purification private entrance with social distancing & sanitization policies in effect. Host is fully vaccinated Stellar lake and capitol views from breakfast nook. Very quiet, woodsy, neighborhood adjacent to Governor Nelson State Park. Restaurants providing takeout within 2 miles and 15 min from downtown Madison. New pier and non-power boat access. My guests consistently comment on the serenity, relaxing effect of my Lake Mendota retreat. I am a medical professional and assure you my property is covid safe in every possible way. It is not fancy but it has everything one needs to enjoy a quiet cabin type experience just 15 min from downtown Madison. Bookings since covid are up especially with short weekend get aways people needing a break from the pressure the pandemic has caused. I will do everything I can to help it be relaxing and restful. The downstairs suite is entirely yours with locked entrances. The hot tub and front of lake area is yours to enjoy as well as a lakefront finnish sauna. Firepit, bbq and tiki area are yours to share but as I am often gone you will have exclusive use to them. It is a bit of a trek up and down stairs but almost all of my guests have found it worth the effort! As a traveler myself I respect the reason you have come to a nature lovers getaway. That said if you invite me to share your bonfire and talk about life over a beer I rarely refuse :) Lake Mendota's north shore is coveted property, home to some incredible mansions. Mine isn't! It is a 1929 cabin fully remodeled next to others that are similar. I have just 50 ft of frontage where the "starter castles" have 200 to 1000! They are beautiful to look at by boat but I like our neighborhood better as it is hidden and quiet and has a State Park in the backyard! The other thing I love about our neighborhood is these are real people with real jobs that LOVE living on the lake. My neighbor's 7 year old daughter calls it "her lake"! We are close together so please carefully watch noise levels, boundaries etc! As mentioned elsewhere please follow parking instructions EXACTLY! The one thing all of the neighbors also love is our wonderful state park, just a 5 min walk away. It has prairies, very unique Oak Savannah biome, lake access and lots of wildlife. Deer, fox, turkeys, owls and even rarely coyotes hang out there and it also has some wonderful Indian mounds. Great hiking and xc skiing when snow on the ground! (As of 12/13/2020 we have 8") Many guests use uber & lyft to and from downtown (around $20 to 25) or to airport (around $15) If you have a car please park on south side (lakeside) of street as close to my property as you can. If that parking is not available it is OK to park on left side (opp side as house) . Thks! Parking issues & being quiet are the two issues I have stated elsewhere but bear repeating. This is a quiet woodsy neighborhood with both families and retirees whose right to quiet after 9 PM needs to be respected. Parking is also tight as my neighbor and I have no off street parking or garages so ideally park in front of my property (Lakeside) or on the opposite side (except April 1st to Oct 1st). The other two issues I want to disclose is that our neighborhood and other lake properties with woods all around do have minor bug issues outside and sometimes inside, primarily in the summer months. Mosquitoes, fireflies, and the occasional crawling bug do occur. If you are totally bug averse my lakeside retreat may not be for you. The only other issue is that there are often many stairs associated with good views on Lake Mendota's North shore. Mine are steeper than some, not as bad as others. It leads to great privacy but can be a challenge to navigate for some folks and hauling things up and down is necessary.
