A perfect little "getaway", near everything but nestled away at the end of a cul de sac in the trees, kind of like a little cabin. With the mini fridge and entertainment area, you can just completely "chill". "Urban/artistic" quality here, small house, very modest. We have lived here for 20 years. NYC and Boston are a day trip from here. Rentschler Field is right down the street. It is a very restful spot. It feels almost like sleeping out in the woods. I have created the space to feel like a magical little get away, which most people find it to be. It is definately funky though. I do most of the work on the bungalow myself. It is a creation of love for me. It's a quiet, sweet neighborhood. We have lived here for 20 years. I am very interested in sharing stories with world travelers and hopefully offering a peaceful and clean home away from home. The area in which the guests will reside is the converted front porch. It has private access from the driveway in which parking is provided. There is a kitchenette for light meals and netflix set up as a little entertainment area. I just ask please to keep volume low in the evenings. There is a study nook, and also a little sitting area provided for guests in the front outside. There is a portable air conditioning unit available for use, for an additional charge, however most guests prefer the natural breeze from the trees and find fans quite adequate for cooling, so the a.c. is put away. If you would like a.c. please request in advance. Guests will come through the violin studio and private living area to access bathroom. I keep the bathroom sterilized in accordance with professional standards for my guests, the rest of my house I live in as I normally do, and is not meant for guest access. Please be advised, the guest space, our "little bungalow" is definately on the rustic side. If you are looking for hotel-style accommodation then this might not be a good fit for you. Also my guest visitor policy is on the strict side. The Bungalow is for solo guests only. We only have one bathroom and sound carries from the Bungalow, throughout our house. It is not an appropriate environment for entertaining guests, and all extra visitors must be out by 10 pm, so if you want to have visitors this also might not be the best fit. It is a unique and charming environment for those who are attuned to it. There are many lovely parks and cultural events nearby. We are working regularly on our musical composition and recording and welcome musicians to join us in this. Dear Potential Guests, PLEASE read thoroughly : Please read the information in our Airbnb listing, we get many questions which are answered there already. We rent a space in our home, and for the time you are our guests, we will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is pleasant. However, we are not responsible to assist inordinately with your travel plans, and other personal needs prior to your arrival. For the most part, these kinds of questions will not be responded to. You are advised, in this event, to consult our Airbnb listing. We have spent many hours on the listing description and we keep it up to date continuously, so our guests will have a positive experience. We hope that our guests will feel comfortable in their little "studio". The mini fridge and coffee maker/toaster oven, are meant to be a little kitchenette for light meals. There is netflix etc set up and a small study area available. There's also a little sitting area for guests outside. The only place the little studio isn't completely self-contained is in the shared bathroom. (Please be considerate of the shared bathroom and keep showers to roughly 10 minutes and bathroom use within a half hour or so , thanks)! We basically just live in our house as we normally would. I try to have a little pleasant chat with our guests when they arrive , and throughout the stay here and there, a cup of tea perhaps. Of course I am available should guests need anything, but once guests settle in, feel free to make the place your own while you are here. The exception to this is in inviting other visitors to the Bungalow. This is not a suitable environment for entertaining. Please do not invite visitors into our home without prior notification. * All visitors must be out by 10 pm. Aside from the visitor policy, the Bungalow is like a separate little apartment except for the bathroom. Guests have a key to the outside entrance, I maintain access to the guests studio area, and of course the guest maintains access to the rest of the house to use the bathroom. I am very respectful of guests' privacy and only go into studio to clean etc, as needed, while it's occupied. My intent is that this is a clean and cozy, restful place to stay. Our neighborhood is an example of the diversity which makes for a strong community. This is one of the things I have always loved about East Hartford. This is a very modest home, which reflects my values. I am an artist and humanitarian and put my efforts into creating beauty and tranquility. I have tried to present an accurate as possible picture of what I'm offering here. We offer beauty, elegance, tranquility and warmth. It is not like a hotel, it's a home, artsy, inexpensive, a unique little spot. We live in a good strong community of decent hard working people and at 9 pm around here most evenings, it's so quiet you can here a pin drop. We have lived here for 19 years and it has always been this way. I leave my car doors open at night and have never had any problems. If an urban environment is not suitable for you, or if you prefer "McMansions" , please do us both a favor and seek a place more to your liking. This home is what it is and is priced accordingly. We are very fortunate. We love our home and our neighborhood, and sharing them. The public bus service is very convenient and picks up right at the end of our street. Uber and Lyft service is also very good here. The air conditioning unit is portable. Most guests prefer the fans and the natural cool breeze from the trees, so the a.c. unit is put away. If you would like a.c. please request in advance and understand, there will be a $5 extra nightly charge to use air conditioning because it uses so much electricity. We have a dog, he is very friendly and curious, please do not allow him in the Bungalow. Early check in and late check out will be considered for an additional $10, however only if it does not prevent proper maintenance time between guests. We clean and restock very thoroughly for each guest. Thank you for your understanding . Also, please don't invite visitors in without checking with us first, and be advised only Airbnb guests in the Bungalow after 10pm. Thank you.
