Cozy Cabin in the Sierras
This charming cabin is a wonderful mountain retreat 15 minutes from Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, 20 minutes to Sonora and historic gold country, directly across from the Long Barn Lodge Ice Skating Rink, and an easy day trip to Yosemite National Park. The cabin has two bedrooms upstairs. One with a queen bed and a larger bedroom with two twin beds. There are also two high-quality twin mattresses available. Each bedroom has TV/DVD player. Downstairs, there's a full kitchen, bathroom, living room with a fireplace, TV/DVD player with excellent movie collection, board games, and books. The dining area accommodates 6. There is a front porch and a gas grill available as well. You'll have the entire cabin to yourselves to enjoy. Summer activities: The cabin is a short drive to a variety of trail heads with great hiking and lake and river access. Pinecrest Lake is a terrific place to spend the day swimming, boating, fishing, or hiking. You can enjoy the beach or rent kayaks, paddle boats, fishing boats, and party boats at the marina. There's a snack bar that serves burgers and soft serve ice cream, a general store, and a sporting goods store conveniently located at the lake. Pinecrest's Steam Donkey restaurant serves up delicious lunch and dinner and has a full bar. The Serene Bean, an outdoor coffee stand, is open year round. In the evening, there is an outdoor amphitheater under the pines that features first run movies. This overlooks the lake and has a snack bar that serves popcorn, hot chocolate, and more. It's so much fun. Paddle Board rentals are available at Heidi's Ski Shop. Winter Activities: Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is 15 miles up the road. There is a lodge to relax in and a lot of trails to explore. Grab some lunch at the Creekside Cafe or a beer at the Boulder Bar. Leland Sno Park is about 25 miles from the cabin. It's a great place to take your kids sledding and there is a lodge that serves snacks and warm drinks. There's a seasonal, indoor ice skating rink that you can walk to right across the street from the cabin! Further up the road are great fishing spots to explore and Donnell Vista, a stunning overlook 30 scenic miles from the cabin. Only one hour to the quaint town of Murphy's, wine tasting, restaurants, and shopping. Calaveras Big Trees State Park is further up Hwy 4 where you can view an amazing grove of giant sequoias. The cabin is a 1.5- hour drive to Yosemite's north entrance. Be sure to stop at the historic Iron Door Saloon for dinner on your way home!
