Azure Sky Log Cabin is a three-bedroom plus loft log cabin home on 3.5 acres with fantastic long-range mountain views looking over the Blue Ridge Parkway! A porch runs the length of the house to watch the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. The gated Buck Mountain community is located about 20 minutes from Wilkesboro (home of MerleFest Music Festival) and about 25 minutes from Boone. It has hiking trails, a catch and release pond, a community center, a putting green and a gorgeous waterfall! New - linens now included! Azure Sky can comfortably sleep 8 people with three bedrooms (ceiling fans in each) and a loft. The main level has a large vaulted-ceiling living room with a 75-inch TV (basic cable, Roku TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime) and a wood-burning fireplace. On the main floor you'll also find a well-equipped kitchen, two sun rooms (one off the master with a swing), and three spacious bedrooms (master with king and private bath) and two other bedrooms with queens. The guest bath also includes a shower and there is a third half-bath off the kitchen. There is a washer/dryer for your convenience also off the kitchen. There is a gas grill on the front, covered porch for your convenience. There is a deck that spans the length of the back of the house. It is very high off the ground so please be careful near the railing! There is furniture (glider bench and two gliding chairs) for four people to enjoy the sunset over the long-range mountain views. The loft above the living room has a King, a Queen and a Single bed. Azure Sky also has a large, unfinished basement that has one additional bathroom (not included in the 2.5). In the basement are games and exercise equipment. There is an air hockey table, ping-pong table, a dart board, a foosball table, a basketball game and a recently added pool table -- something for everyone! In terms of exercise equipment, there is a cardiocore machine, a treadmill, an exercise trampoline, and a weight bench plus a few limited free weights. Outside the garage is a fenced in area for dogs that can double as a place to park up to four cars. Please note that the owners have cats that visit occasionally. While we clean very well, if you are allergic to cats this may not be the best cabin for you for this reason. Our guests have access to the whole cabin. We do keep some of our personal things there that are in closets marked as "owner", so please don't utilize those spaces. Also, please don't use the wood fireplace in the basement. IMPORTANT: Please note that there is a a gate in the fence to get to the gas tank to the left of the garage doors when looking out at the yard. It is closed and locked and marked with a warning sign. Please DO NOT OPEN or let your children or pets near it as it is dangerous. Also, please do not walk down towards the back of the house on the far side of the front entrance. It is very steep and can be slippery. Once the payment is made and the reservation is confirmed, I will contact my guest(s) via email or text to see if there are questions. Guests can feel free to call me or text me at any time during their stay. I will also provide the gate code to get into the gated community and the code to come in the front door (key-code lock). Buck Mountain is a safe, quiet, gated mountain community with miles of low traffic ATV trails that can be used for hiking! Keep in mind that the nearest grocery store and gas stations are about 20 minutes away in Wilkesboro (east of cabin) on Highway 421 or 25 minutes away in Boone (west of cabin), so it is best to get groceries and gas on the way in. Both Boone and Wilkesboro have all modern amenities. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 25 minutes, and you can hike to stunning waterfalls at the Cascades Trail (30 min away). The W. Kerr Scott Reservoir in Wilkesboro (25 minutes) is a wonderful place for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing and boating. Boone is the home of Appalachian State and offers a gem mine, eclectic shopping and restaurant options, and river rafting/tubing and zip lining adventures. In the winter, you can ski at Appalachian Ski Mountain (45 minutes) or Sugar Mountain (1 hour). The kitchen has a Keurig with some refill pods as well as a regular coffee maker. We provide ground coffee, creamers and sugar. There is also an air popcorn maker and popcorn is provided. In the office alcove, there is a printer and monitor which guests are welcome to connect to and use. We are a Fire-Wise Community, so no open fires are allowed. You can either park your cars in the upper driveway next to the mailbox (please be careful coming in and out and go slowly!!) or down in the grassy area outside the garage. Please do not park in the garage. You will have to open the gate from the inside (locked from the inside) to park down below in the yard area. There is a full set of stairs from the basement to the main level, so if stairs are a problem, please park up top next to the mailbox because there are only four steps. Also important: please do not turn around in our neighbor's driveway across the street. There is a place to turn around a little ways up the street on the left side. Please collect all trash at the end of your stay and take it to the neighborhood refuse center on your way out. There is a place to leave recycling and a place for regular trash. Once reservation is confirmed, I will send the rental agreement that my guests and I will both need to sign within 7 days of rental arrival date. Well-behaved dogs and cats are allowed at Azure Sky. Pet fee is $100 per stay for one animal and $150 for two animals (two animal max). This will be added on to the regular fee and is not included in the total pricing that you receive upon booking. Please let me know if you are bringing pets. We live in Durham, NC but have a handyman who lives just a few minutes away for any emergencies.
