You have access to house, pool house, pool, dock, and 26 acres of private property. We ask that you do not go in the pasture with the horses but feel free to pet them or feed them carrots or apples over the fence. Signs are posted about the Virginia Equestrian law and you are responsible for any injury to yourself due to your interaction with horses. We will most likely check you in giving you a tour and pointing out amenities. You are welcome to call us any time with questions or concerns and we will do everything in our power to solve any issues. The drive on Route 5 includes all famous plantations from the 1700's where the forefathers came to network and party. You will feel you are in heaven driving down Shirley Plantation Road with thousands of acres of cotton, soy beans, or corn, then at the end of the road turn right into our driveway. The 2 mile driveway will take you past an orchard of peach, pear, apple, walnut, and pecan trees, then 1,800’ of river front driveway to the beautiful home and pool house that is private. Beautiful flowers blooming year round! Camellias 10’ tall bloom all winter, spring and fall. The peonies bordering the pool are to die for in May. The pink roses on the trellis at the pool and entrance to the garden where the marble sculpture of “Diana” Goddess of the Hunt stands and a blanket of pink phlox with Lilly pad pond for frogs are most beautiful in April and May. Walk down to the dock and boathouse to enter a different world. Fishing (Son has caught 15 citation fish in one year. With 3 catfish 60-73 lbs). Tiki bar, upstairs with an incredible view of the river and Presquile Wildlife Refuge where eagles nest. 5 zero gravity chairs and two swinging chairs. Take your cooler and plan to get relaxed. Shirley Plantation two doors south of us has a tour you don’t want to miss. River Ridge property was initially a part of the Shirley Plantation and then Upper Shirley Plantation. The Dockside Restaurant is only 10 min. away on the river, There is no public transportation but Uber & Taxi's have brought people from airport just 30 min away. Upper Shirley Vineyard and the Shirley Plantation is in walking distance. Look out the windows overlooking river every morning and evening to see our resident Eagle sitting in one of two trees in our back yard. The nearest grocery store is about 20 min. so you should consider stopping on the way in to get any groceries or snacks, drinks.
