Ballenger Farm
18th century Quaker colonial on a small farm with friendly goats, chickens, ducks and other animals with close proximity to all the wineries and breweries in western Loudoun county. The farm is accessed via a private natural road. The property includes a barn, spring house, corn crib, and several streams and ponds. Outside, you can roam the property and visit with the ducks, chickens, and fainting goats; take in the view from the deck; or enjoy the flowers and fish ponds. Looking to grill? We’re taking you back in time with a fire pit, wood fired grill, and five foot deep in-ground oven. Inside, the vibe is very "East meets West mid 1700s" with a mix of classy antiques, funky vintage finds, and East Asian pieces. In addition to the bathrooms and bedrooms, there is a living room with a fireplace, piano room that looks into the courtyard, dining room that comfortably sits 8 and less comfortably sits 12, large kitchen with two ovens and cook top with six gas burners, a laundry/mud room, and special toy room accessed by a winding stair. ***Please note: my parents live and work on the farm in a house that is connected to the main house in which you will be staying. There are no shared indoor spaces. *** The home includes an original stone section started in the mid-1700s and a brick section added later. The entire stone section is open to guests, and has it's own private entry. The brick section is occupied year-round by my parents and is not open to guests. There is no ingress or egress between the guest stone section and my parent's brick section. Feel free to roam around the property and view the farm buildings' exteriors. However, the buildings have not been fully restored inside so they are not safe for adventuring in, especially for children. In Covid times you’re able to stay here free of any interaction with me and my cohost parents. You can reach us by phone if you need anything! Also, since the farm is owned by my darling parents you might see us working outside- and we'll probably give a little wave. Ballenger Lane is an 18th century natural road with only two other houses and neither are visible from the property. It's very peaceful. More than two dozen wineries and breweries are within 15 minutes of the farm. The W&OD trail is only minutes away - many guests have biked to our space from the trail. Purcellville is next door. It has quaint shops with vintage goods as well as convenient grocery stores and resturants. A walking path connects Ballenger Farm to Patrick Henry College. If you have relatives, friends, or business there, it makes it a very quick commute! A commuter bus goes to D.C. from a free parking lot 8 minutes away. Dulles Airport is about 30 minutes away. Metro's Silver Line is scheduled to open in 2022. The goats and other farm animals are friendly and like to investigate new vehicles and folks. You can toss the chickens all kinds of snacks and feed the goats out of your hand :) Cars should be parked behind the barns. If cars are parked near the house, for some reason, the goats like to play king of the mountain on top of them. The house is over 270 years old, so please understand old houses have quirks! Parties or events not allowed.
