Captain's Cabin
THE CAPTAIN'S CABIN The Captain's Cabin a is totally new, one bedroom construction, that sits on the edge, literally, of the St. Croix River located at 27 Lamb Cove Lane in Robbinston, Maine and overlooks historic St. Croix Island and neighboring New Brunswick, Canada. This is a very private two/three person cabin located 2/10 of a mile(.32km) from U.S. Rte. 1. The Captain's Cabin has one queen bed and a cot to accommodate a third person. The Captain's Cabin is great for honeymooners, artist's and writer's retreats, those recuperating from job stress or health issues, hiking enthusiasts, kayak explorers, or just a great place for a quiet vacation. At high tide the St. Croix River is just outside your window and the only noises are gull cries, duck chatter, laughing loons, and seal groans from the island in the distance. It is fully equipped for your weekly or monthly enjoyment including DirecTv. Just bring your food and drink. Rental includes one or more lobster trapping trips on the river with Captain Louis, your host. Sorry, no pets. The Cabin is 10 miles(16km) south of Calais, Maine where three bridges connect the U.S. to our neighbor, Canada.(bring your passport) Calais is the shopping center of eastern Washington County and has many amenities including a hospital, several churches, library, swimming pool, food and retail stores, and restaurants. A boat launch is available 2 miles south of the cabin. Kayaks can be launched directly onto the beach. Deep sea fishing and whale watching are available in Eastport 20 miles(32km) to the south. The St. Croix Country Club in Calais, 9 holes, is the eastern most golf course in the U.S.A. There are three courses near-by in Canada. The St. Croix River next to the cabin is salt water and has the greatest rise and fall of tides in the continental U.S. averaging 28 feet every 6 hours.(approx. 1 inch per minute) One can swim in the water but it is quite cool. There are several lakes in the area for swimming and great bass and perch fishing. On clear nights, star gazing is excellent since there is no light pollution in the area. The full moon rises over Canada to the southeast and is quite spectacular. Being in the cabin at high tide makes one feel like they are in a cruise ship cabin but without the motion. “You can sail with Captain Morgan and never leave dry land.” I will be available on a daily basis to help make your stay pleasurable. A landline phone and washer and dryer are available at Whispering Pines cottage that is adjacent to the Captain's Cabin.
