This beautiful home was built in the 1700s when Kentucky was still Virginia. The stone structure in the center of the home was the first Court House in Woodford County. The original hardwood floors in each room are exquisite and soft to walk on. High ceilings and thick walls give a grande, private feeling. New kitchen appliances and dishware add an eclectic feel against the antique furniture. Comfortable couches and brand new queen size bed will assure a good night's sleep. Washer and Dryer too! Longtime lovers of art, we decided to celebrate local artists at the Old Courthouse Inn. An exciting perk during your stay will be to not only enjoy the art on the wall but take it home if you want! The paintings featured are for sale. Currently, we are proud to display paintings from Lakshmi Sriraman and Keith Ross. Your visit will be enhanced by quiet time at your Versailles home. Privacy will be yours the minute you close the door. Relax in the cozy living room with a good book from our library, enjoy the cable TV and internet throughout the house. The kitchen has an adjacent private patio perfect for afternoon tea or an early evening cocktail. The enormous bedroom upstairs feels like an apartment in itself with high ceilings, adjacent bathroom, shower and washer and dryer. The historic walls will make you feel hugged by this magical house.. I will be available to answer any questions during your stay, give you some neighborhood tips and let you know about the local horse farm tours and other wonderful Kentucky sights. At the Old Courthouse Inn you will have optimum privacy while being right in the middle of downtown Versailles. A two-block walk to Main Street and you can enjoy Melissa's Cafe, The Amsden Coffee Club and adjoining Bourbon Bar, The Rolling Oven Taproom, Spotz Gelato, Homegrown Yoga and the Yoga Room among other places! People often say the best feature is that you are surrounded by the most beautiful horse farms in the world. Among the attractions minutes up the road are Three Chimneys, Lane's End and WinStar Farms, where you can visit former Triple Crown and Derby winners, American Pharoah, Always Dreaming and Supersaver. Local activities will not disappoint, Keeneland Sales and Horse Races, Horse Farm Tours, World Famous Bourbon Distilleries and the Bourbon Trail. If you are looking for big-city nightlife, restaurants and shopping, Lexington is a straight shot twelve miles away. Midway is a stunning village a scenic ten-minute drive away. Main Street has a train that travels down the middle and on either side are special shops and restaurants, this is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. When you leave the city and see miles and miles of rolling emerald green hills and beautiful horses, you will be glad you chose Versailles for your stay.
