Road tripping through western Washington or Oregon? We are just a hop & skip off Interstate 5 at exit 30. Join us for a comfy, relaxing reprieve from your travels. You can kick-up your feet inside and enjoy the view, or stretch your legs with a walk around Kalama and our newly renovated riverfront park & marina. Check out the worlds tallest (now (Website hidden by Airbnb) it is laying on its side for repairs) Totem Pole ... carved from a single tree! The front stairway leads up one flight to where the bedrooms are located to the left, and the kitchen/family room is to the right. There are plenty of books, games, binoculars (river watching) and a large flat-screen TV with blue-ray player and access to an Amazon Fire TV player. There is also a CD player and a large selection of CD's. There is wi-fi available and USB chargers in case you forgot yours. We live full time in the home (main floor), so we are available and happy to answer questions about the home/apartment, make shopping and dining recommendations or answer questions about the area and what it has to offer. Kalama was first settled by Native Americans, particularly members of the Cowlitz Indian Tribes. The first white settler recorded was in 1853. In early 1870, Northern Pacific Railway scouts came to Cowlitz County to find an ideal terminus along the Columbia River. This is a walking community. Our home is one block east of the core business district and 1/2 a mile from the marina and riverfront park (accessed via foot bridge over the railroad right-of-way) on the Columbia River. There are a number of restaurants in and around Kalama offering a variety of fare, or you can grab a basket full of goodies from the market just a block away, and fix something yummy in the apartments kitchen.
