Because I work out of my home teaching piano, this space is best suited to guests who are mostly out working and/or touring. Please note that if your plans are to spend most of your hours in the room, or if you need complete quiet for conference calls, this space is probably not your best choice. 2. Zoom lessons are the norm. To ensure the integrity of the internet connection during my lessons on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, I request that you refrain from Wifi use during these times. 3. During teaching hours I ask guests to avoid passing through the room I am teaching in. (It doesn't affect your ability to enter or exit the house--only access to the kitchen.) 5. TWO SMALL DOGS, Opie and Pearlie, live here. They are good dogs but will bark at strangers before calming down. Bending down to their level, using their names, and letting them get a feel for you initially will minimize the barking as you come and go and help maintain a peaceful environment for your comfort. 6. Access to the patio is limited to my waking hours (around 9:30am to midnight). The patio is below my bedroom and the dogs will bark if you're there when I'm still in bed. 7. While most guests spend all their time in the room when not out, this listing does include access to common areas. If you'll want to be spending time on the patio or in the living room, please inquire about the limitations so there are no surprises. Additionally, minimal and mask-only access to the common areas may be requested--please inquire. 8. LAUNDRY is $5 a load, detergent provided. Please only book this space if the above conditions are acceptable as well as acknowledging the information listed in the house manual. Ask about using our MIGUN MASSAGE BED. $20 for 30 minutes, $30 for 60 minutes--therapeutic, relaxing, and it's a massage so feels great. WIFI: Free, unlimited, fast, and secure STREET PARKING: Safe and free, right next to driveway or close-by--see photos. LIGHT COOKING in fully equipped kitchen, no cooking after 9pm FOOD STORAGE: partial or full refrigerator shelf available, freezer space is limited. PATIO: Relax & Enjoy! PIANOS: Play them! COMMUNITY POOL AND SPA for residents--key available. Safeguard it--HOA charges $300 for replacement and this would be passed on to you were you to lose it. TENNIS/BASKETBALL COURTS, play structures, baseball and soccer areas, etc. a minute walk from house. TEN MINUTES WALK has you at another park with many amenities, including trails, a pond with wildlife, playground and water pad for children. TRAILHEADS for hiking/biking are walking or short driving distance away. SHOPPING: Starbucks, Trader Joe's, TJ Maxx, other mainstream as well as upscale grocers (Gelsons, Pavilions, Whole Foods), fast food, high-end restaurants and shopping (various strip malls), antique and eclectic shops (Whizin's Mall), movies, Italian homemade ice-cream (Tifa), etc. 5 to 15 minutes drive. MANY PARKS of all sizes, including Malibu Creek State Park in the Santa Monica mountains where M*A*S*H was filmed, 2 to 15 minutes driving. MALIBU BEACHES 25 minutes drive. My favorites: El Matador, El Pescador, La Piedra. Bring shoes to walk down the cliff paths and stairs. WINE AND BEER TASTING venues 10 to 20 minutes. Check out Wades Wines for a huge selection of wine/liquor/130 artisan beers on tap for purchase or tasting and a welcoming atmosphere. Nabu is a wine bar with quality live music. DO YOU ENJOY LIVE MUSIC? FREE TICKETS! I can often offer you free tickets to a local gem, The Canyon Club, which is 10 minutes away and hosts locally, nationally, and internationally known artists. Last year B. B King, Emmy Lou Harris, Robby Krieger (of The Doors), and many others played. Bogies is another local venue with quality music. Check out the outdoor concerts in the park in the summer. A CAR IS PRACTICALLY MANDATORY: public transportation is limited. However, there is a free shuttle (called Kanan Shuttle) 5 minutes walking distance for local businesses which also takes you to a more connected line to LA. PLEASE NOTE: Distances are far in LA and public transport can chew up a chunk of your day. CHECK OUT: 11am is firm if another guest is expected the same day that you are leaving.
