During very hot summer days, there is possible occurrence of Blue-Green Algae (aka cyanobacteria) in Clearlake. This is beyond owner's control. Algae is a normal inhabitant of many water environments, including Clearlake. Certain conditions, such as high temperatures and elevated nutrient concentrations allow algae to grow more rapidly than usual creating mats or blooms. Most algae is harmless; however, please exercise caution with water exposure if algae is present. Many guests have enjoyed lake recreation activities during this time period. - NOTE: During the summer months, it is common to see flying insects during the evening time. These harmless gnats are attracted to light, but not people, and do not bite. Therefore they are harmless, although they may be a nuisance, but is all part of lakefront living. For a more enjoyable outdoor patio time, the homeowner strongly encourages guests to utilize the patio netting. It is best to zip up and enclose the entire patio with the netting before dusk and prior to turning on the patio lights as these insects are attracted to them. Then in the morning, unzip the netting, shake off the bugs, and tie it back up - NOTE: Water levels can be lower in the summer due to heat and drought
