Recently renovated and upgraded, Mirror Lake Retreat is the perfect year-round destination to enjoy both a little solitude and easy access to activities and conveniences in the surrounding area. This well-appointed retrofitted barn-style home includes all of the modern amenities - a soundproofed home theater with Dolby Atmos surround and a wet bar, wifi, streaming Hulu live TV, Roku, Netflix, and xbox gaming in two rooms with dozens of games and high-speed internet. There is a new garage space with ping-pong and foosball. The main gathering area seats accommodates your full group with a large table and bar seating. The kitchen is fully appointed with updated appliances including a double oven, 4-slice toaster, ground coffee/K-cup coffee and hot chocolate maker, ice cream machine, waffle and panini grill, two blenders and all the pots, pans, Pyrex and cutlery you will need for a snack or a feast. If you would rather disconnect from it all there is a wood stove in the comfortable family room with comfortable leather couches. Luxury mattresses and bedding and a variety of feather, down, hypoallergenic and memory foam pillows ensure a peaceful night's sleep. There is a cedar-wood sauna and 120-jet 7-person hot tub for further relaxation. The entire upstairs is a private master suite with a travel-themed office space and a separate balcony overlooking the mountains. The ensuite master bathroom includes a spacious two-head walk-in shower and imperial footed bathtub. The nautical-themed bunk bed room sleeps 8 comfortably and includes a realistic boat play area for the kids. Larger groups may also rent our nearby property, The Cabin at Mirror Lake Retreat. When booked together, both properties will be discounted by 10 percent. Summer: The property has large fire-pit in the back near by a running creek for storytelling and s'mores. When it's lights out you are presented with a deep view of the starry sky and crisp mountain air, perfect for the two designated camping areas on-site or for the more adventurous, at one of the many campgrounds just minutes up the road. There are poles intended for up to three hammocks. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They guarantee a catch, will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a BBQ for grilling them up for a healthy meal, and the enclosed yard with a large playground allows the kids to run around without having to worry about them wandering down to the river or the road unattended. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall! As a testament to the location, in 2016 Mirror Lake Retreat was selected for an on-location photoshoot for Eider Sportswear. Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in. The place is just off the highway, ensuring year-round hassle-free accessibility. In the winter the National Park closes the roads, providing thousands of acres of pristine snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best Jerky and smoked cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. Jen and Dave will certainly take care of you and also have canoes and snowshoes for rent. And that's not all, just up the street is The Notch Pub, serving up fish and chips and delicious home made burgers and staging live entertainment and pool competitions year-round. Quaint Kamas Main street is only 10 minutes away, where you can find melt-in-your mouth pizzas, homeskillet breakfasts, and turn-it-upside-down malts. After all that snacking, hit up the local rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall. If exercise isn't your idea of a vacation, how about shopping? Park City main street and the Outlets are just a short drive away... These are some of the many reasons we love our Mirror Lake Retreat. We hope you do too. COVID-19 Note: Mirror Lake Retreat has implemented improved cleaning protocols in line with VRBO policy. Please note that while most stays have a minimum 24-hour gap between visitors, s small number of previous reservations have to be honored and will result in a same-day turnaround. However, these will include additional deep cleaning ahead of check-in. CDC guidelines note that surface transfer is not a primary method of COVID-19 transmission. If you are concerned about COVID-19, please feel free to reach out and we can make adjustments to your stay, including a $100 refund if late check-in is requested due to back-to-back reservations. Notes from review feedback: 1. In August 2020 the Internet was upgraded to 200mbps high speed internet with a mesh network for full connectivity throughout the property. 2. In early 2017 the cabin was updated with a new tankless water heating system and backup system and has ensured no further issues with hot water. 3. There is no air conditioning in this unit as it is not necessary except for a few nights each year. The cabin is nestled in a sheltered canyon which is often 10 degrees or more cooler than the surrounding area and channels a cool breeze in the summer. We have found that there are only a handful of nights a year when it feels warm, and overhead and portable fans are available for these times. To keep the cabin cool on warm days, open windows just before sunset and close all windows around 10 am and keep them closed throughout the day.
