This unique House was built in 1977. Inspired by Arcosanti and the vision of Paolo Soleri. It is carved into the earth and built of natural materials and objects found in the area. There is a walkway that leads to the home, a kiva, and patio for outdoor living. Use good judgement and situational awareness at all times due to the uneven surfaces and the rock ledges. Inside the House are many small doorways with low overhangs that you must step over to access the rooms. This place is probably not for you...   If you are looking for a true hotel experience - keep looking, if the thought of climbing through small doorways inside the home sounds like a challenge - or if you are opposed to living close to nature look elsewhere.   If life on the edge of the mountain with an uneven landscape gives you vertigo stay home.   However if you are looking for a truly unique experience and a chance to stay in a home designed by a brilliant architect ( Paul Nonnast) sounds like a dream come true  - then this is your place and it is for You that I have gone through the effort to make this available to host new friends who share my sense of wanderlust.   The house is undergoing renovations to further improve your experience. I recently added air conditioning to the bedroom!  The shower is the original and  is currently located in the living room area. To access the restroom you have to leave the main living areas of the house.  The home is not built ADA compliant, pet, or kid friendly. It is dusty in the desert I live off a dirt road a mile from town and the home is entirely made of rock! I have 2 very sweet dogs that will be fenced off from the studio area. The House on the edge of time is located next door to my home and you will have access to the entire house during your stay. There is parking for only 1 vehicle standard size that will be designated off the road in front of the home. Please make arrangements for larger vehicles you can not block the road in any way. Only the 2 registered guests allowed on property at any time. This home is a great choice for people looking for peace and quiet away from the town. I live next door and will be available to assist you during your stay. The House is located in a very quiet residential part of town known as the experimental district. I have a few neighbors that live very close by - please be very respectful to them at all times and keep noise at a reasonable level. - if you are looking for a place to party Jerome has many options in the commercial district. The Posted speed limit on this road is 5 MPH it is enforced by law This space is not suitable for parties and only registered guest are permitted on the property due to my insurance. The town of Jerome is a 20 minute walk ( all up hill ) or a 5 minute drive. The home is down an unpaved road. No smoking anywhere on the Property. The restaurants in Jerome close early for dinner ( usually 8pm) so if you will arrive late plan to eat before you get to Jerome. Most shops and galleries in Jerome close at 5pm - there is usually live music on Saturdays at the Spirit Room - Paul and Jerry's Bar is cash only and there is an ATM inside If you have further interest in the area I am a licensed real estate agent in Arizona, and I am happy to assist you with any additional needs you may have in the future. Hot Tub You must shower before use. NO GLASS near or in hot tub. No clothing in hot tub - swim wear or nothing. Clothing will leave residue from and detergant. It is cleaned and sanitized between every guest. If I have to completly drain and refill it will be a $150 charge - and I will send a photo to support the condition. If you dont understand how to properly use it please ask I am happy to assist you. Seasonal Expectations for Guests Spring Weather : there is still a potential for snow in the early spring. Days 60’s - 70’s nights will still get down in the low 30s there is a gas heater in the living room - electric heaters in the others, and a wood stove in the bedroom. Pine needles - There is a giant pine tree above the studio it’s messy in the spring but provides amazing shade in the summer! Summer Weather: Days can be very warm and nights can still get chilly here. Plan and dress accordingly. There is a swamp cooler in the studio bedroom, it usually does a great job of keeping things cool if the humidity is not too bad. There are also fans to be used. You are kind of camping afterall. Summer is peak time for snakes and other desert creatures. Be alert and use common sense. There is air conditioning in the bedroom recently installed!! Fall Weather: early fall is still very warm here late fall can be chilly I have seen snow in early November. Watch for icy spots in the shade. There is a gas heater in the living room, electric heaters in all of the rooms and, wood burning stove in the bedroom. Winter !!! It is still an option,,, contact me directly with questions if your are a hardy soul !!! If you are ok with the wood stove and the gas heater and a rugged experience reach out and I will open it up and host you! !!! The snow in Jerome is a beautiful sight through the skylights!!
