Come, get away from the craziness of life, calm your body, clear your mind and channel your energy by staying at a very special little gem. Once you arrive you won't want to leave. A newly renovated cozy cottage, where you won't believe your view when you wake up in the morning with your first cup of tea or coffee overlooking the best spot in this area from the deck. A perfect getaway on almost 5 acres of creek frontage to find your inner peace. Your body and mind will relax from the first minute you are here. Do your morning Yoga on your own sandy beach, swim, kayak, go fishing, watch wildlife from the tree house, chill with a good book on lounge chairs, cozy up with drinks while having a camp fire. Private, though an ideal location to start exploring the bounty of the Hudson Valley. A short distance to Kingston, Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Hudson, ... and everything these places and this great area has to offer. Recently renovated, I detailed the cottage with a lot of unique flea market finds and custom made elements to make you feel immediately at ease and inspire you to be mindful. Everything, except the comfortable bed, induction cook top and the state-of-the-art (literally) AC, Heating and Dehumidifier unit, is lovingly repurposed, restored or 'up-cycled'. The bath has a shower (sorry no bathtub) and the small kitchen includes a 2-burner induction cook top and all the necessities to make breakfast or have a simple dinner. Cozy, even on a rainy day, the cottage has all the basics for you to enjoy your stay. There is WiFi but, sorry, no TV. I hope that you won't miss it with the ever changing view and amazing nature. The open floor plan provides up close views of the creek from the sunny deck, kitchen, dining table and the bed. Coffee is truly special when you wake up to a constantly changing view on the creek and it's wildlife. If you are lucky you will see a bald eagle go for a fish that jumps with a splash. My unique property is an outdoors enthusiast's dream. Take a walk down to the creek where you have approximately 1,000' of the famous Rondout tow path to stroll along to find rock formations, your own private beach with lounge chairs, a tree house with fire pit and a kayak launch. This is a perfect property to escape New York City and connect with nature. You won't want to leave! Every part on the cottage's side of the property, around 4.5 acres, is open to explore. The main house and garage is on a separate lot and private. IMPORTANT: Because of access to the creek and rugged nature of the property, young children need to be monitored when outdoors. There are numerous areas around the property where anyone, if they are not careful, could be seriously injured or killed. Swimming and kayaking in the creek is generally safe but at the guests own risk. You will find several fire pits on the property to stargaze and enjoy the end of the day. Please refrain from using it without consulting me first. The cottage is private though I live on the same property and therefore can be reached directly or by cell phone any time during your stay for questions or if you should need anything. I love meeting my guests and can give advice about the numerous unique activities and places here around the beautiful Hudson Valley. But I also respect your privacy and give you space to enjoy yourself on my property. Just 91 miles (146 km) North of New York City we are located in the middle of the beautiful Hudson Valley near the town of Rosendale, a small town with a historic movie theater and the just renovated 1000' long and 150' high "Walkway over the Rondout". This historic former train trestle is part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail which accesses over 85 continuous miles of hiking, trail running, cross or mountain cycling, and cross-country skiing. Visit the caves of the historic Snyder Estate or enjoy a stroll along the scenic river to bars and restaurants. We are also just minutes from the restaurants and shops in Kingston, NY's first capital, with many of the older buildings being part of three historic districts, such as the Stockade District uptown, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout Strand Historic District downtown where the Rondout Creek flows into the Hudson River. Only 30 min from Woodstock, New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck or Bard's campus and 45 minutes north to The Olana Estate near Hudson with all his antique shops, there is plenty to explore and enjoy. Visit international art venues in Beacon or Storm King, watch a concert at Bethel Woods, the original site of the famous Woodstock Festival in 69, or have dinner at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and other 'Foody' destinations. There is no public transportation in walking distance. You will need a car to get around. We are friends with the owner of the bike shop in Rosendale where you can arrange rental bikes if you like to explore the 45 mile long rail trail that you can access close by. I love animals but need to have a conversation before you book with your dog. Please DON’T book before we had a message exchange about it! You might loose your service fee to Airbnb if you book and I don’t accept! A lot of effort has gone into renovating and decorating the cottage. Enjoy it, but please take care not to damage walls, floors, or furniture. Be gentle and never leave your dog unattended outside and inside the cottage. Please DO NOT let them on the bed. Bring their favorite pillow or doggy bed for them to rest on. Dry-cleaning charges may apply for stains. Please take your shoes off when inside the cottage. It is wonderful to have the floors and carpet free of dirt for you and all future guests. Therefore I highly recommend to bring shoes or slippers that you wear only inside the cottage. My advise is to wear shoes outside that can be easily slipped in and out of. And if you bring your dog, please remember to wipe off their paws, too, before they enter. Thank you for understanding. No smoking of any kind - including e-cigarettes. Kindly refrain from frying in the small kitchen. There is no grease vent and the odor can linger long after you depart. The house has a septic system, therefore only human waste and toilet paper can be flushed. All baby wipes, tampons, dental floss, Q-tips, etc. must be put in the trash bin. Checking in: I would like to coordinate arrival times at least 24 hours in advance. Please keep me updated with changes to your ETA, as no one likes to wait. If possible please call or text when you are about an hour away. I personally try to meet you to provide the key, give a quick introduction to the cottage and property, and answer any questions that you might have. Thank you.
