The Colonel’s Inn
Built in 1929, this old vintage cozy country home was part of a country store. In the mid 1930s it was converted into an oyster bar. In the 50s the Big Room was added and is now a very unique meeting hall that features live music on occasion. This space can be rented as well. (Pricing varies for these spaces) Gorgeous back porch with lots of plants. Tons of charm. 60 miles from New Orleans, 15 to Baton Rouge. 2 miles to 1-10. Walmart 5 miles. Convenience store 500 feet. Close to the interstate, Walmart, restaurants and bars, this vintage country home has charm hard to find. Please note that in those days high ceilings were not common, and if you are over 6'3" you may need to be careful with some ceiling fans. Beautiful hard wood floors in 2 rooms, rustic wood abounds. With modern appliances but with as much of the original features left intact. Up in the front there is a huge bar room/meeting hall that can be rented. It has a 55” HD TV with live streaming available, full bar, extra restrooms, lots of parking. Grand piano, foosball and more. (Pricing varies for these spaces.) 10x20 back porch with lots of plants and seating. Newer fridge and gas stove top, microwave. Covered carport. The basic Airbnb rate listed is just for the two rooms and a daybed room, which includes kitchen and back porch use, and paid laundry room (2$ per load) There is a gas station/convenience store 4 lots away, easy walking distance. Fast food and fine dining within 2 miles. Theater, bowling alley and Walmart 3-5 miles away. Downtown New Orleans 60 miles straight down I10, Baton Rouge 15 miles up I10. Very safe area. Lamar Dixon center is 8 miles away. The property is on a busy highway, so there is some traffic noise. There are 2 other units on the property. One called the Chateau de Colonel, but there are no common areas. They are separated by double doors and soundproof double walls. Another unit (the Rustic Cottage) in a separate building way in the back. When in the house you should not hear or see any other guests unless maybe from on the back porch. All units have private outdoor spaces isolated from each other as well as separate driveways. Please do not access the other side of the property. Two room suite includes two rooms, queen bed and sofa sleeper, daybed with trundle. full kitchen, bathroom, and back porch and paid wash/dryer room. (2$ per load plz) Park on the driveway to the left, but leave room for access under the carport for the trash guy. Never completely block the driveway. Do not use the driveway to the right of the house, or even walk around the other side of the property. Do not wander past the tall wooden fence in the back. Those are for other guests. Thank you I can be texted or called anytime. We are often working at the property somewhere, yard work, maintenance, or up at the front in the event room. It is separated from the house portion by unoccupied spaces and multiple doors. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE DRIVEWAY TO THE RIGHT, OR WALK AROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HOUSE. We do ask that guests promptly respond to messages through Airbnb so we can better serve you. There is another unit on the other side of the house called the Chateau de' Colonel, and the Rustic Cottage way in the back, but there are no common areas. PLEASE RESPECT THEIR PRIVACY and stay on the left side of the property. When in the house you should not hear or see any other guests. All units have private outdoor spaces isolated from each other as well as separate driveways. You won’t see the neighbors. Very quiet. The road the house is on can get busy at times. Not fancy or opulent. But very romantic and quaint. No public transportation available, but Uber and Lyft available. Plenty to see and do in area We do not have cable or satellite TV service. There is a 40” Smart TV with HDMI cables that can be hooked to any laptop or other device with HDMI ports. We do have high speed internet and WIFI. The highway does get busy at times. Some guests have mentioned the noise. And again, we request prompt responses to messages back and forth. You will hear back from us promptly, and we request the same courtesy. It really helps and is greatly appreciated. The airbnb part is only a portion of the entire 3000 sq ft. space. PLEASE NOTE! Pet Policy. We are very pet friendly, but this is not a boarding house to drop off your pets for 12 + hours. If you travel with your pets, keep them with you. Keep them off the bedding and other furniture or cover them with blankets that you bring. Our blankets and bedding are for human guests, not pets. Pet hair is a big problem and takes a lot to clean up. Use kennels if you have to. DO NOT LEAVE CATS LOOSE and unattended. Kennel your cat(s) if you are not at the house with them. We have a kennel if you need one. We have had several people drop off their pets then stay gone for 12-18 plus hours. This is not acceptable to us or our other guests.
